The seasonal bug has taken a hard bite and I've printed out some fun Halloween characters.

I decided to give them a semi-permanent home on a module and began scratch building an old abandoned stone house to set in the middle of the woods somewhere.

We'll be running trains at the Beatrice, NE Model Railroad Show this weekend!  This will be the first time using the ProtoThrottle too!
I've spent the last few weeks tuning several power sets for realistic sound operation.

I'll be happy to give a demo to anyone interested; just gotta make your way to Beatrice and ask nicely.

Any plans for a show near Denver/CO?   (The webpage sched looks OOD)

TIA,
Ed

Yes, I think we will do the Rocky Mountain show in March show at the Denver Mart again this year.

And we'll be joining the Minnesota group again up in MSP for the Worlds Greatest Hobby in February.

I want to try to make it up to the Denver Mart this year.  Last year I was down with a cold and fever.

I'm curious as to why our club (SlimRail) doesn't do that show when we do others even farther away.  Usually the New Mexico modular HOn3 guys are there, though.  Hopefully Scenic Express'll be there and I can restock.

Man those Boeing fuses seem like they just squeak through the tunnel!  Great visual!

@Dave V well if your club doesn't end up showing, you'll just have to come run trains with us!  :D

Here are some more photos from the NTS I didn't get around to posting yet.

This is an incredible vantage point for a pic.  Except for the venue ceiling in the upper left, the image is near perfect.  I can imagine standing there.

Those Freemo pics are killer. I LOVE that junction.

But they all remind me how much I love backdrops.

Backdrops are cool. They seem better suited for home layouts. On the road, they can be a real pain.

There is always Photoshop, right @VonRyan:D

What is also impressive is the photo's depth of field. That is very important  for making a small scale scene look realistic.
But that sharp photo also shows what looks like unweathered rail.   :D

Here's my favorite Photoshop background for one of my modules

Original Photo (in backyard)

Death Valley backdrop (looking east from valley floor)

Peteski - I know we replaced some of the rail on Wye Knot (which this scene is a part of) recently.  Clearly must have missed the weathering on the sides of that rail.  That is an M.C. Fujiwara executed scene.

Exactly.  Especially when the layout is intended to be viewed from either side.

I have a 6 foot skyboard that I always wonder if I should pack along and use for photo-ops.  At home I use squeeze clamps to fix it to the fascia.  But then once the layout is up at a show, I never want to set the throttle down except a few quick cell phone pics.
That did just give me an idea though, using the method people use PVC to hang a banner.  Put it on wheels, something like a rolling chalkboard, and voilà; portable backdrop!

Sure is, very lovely. But what’s with the floating roadbed and track?
