Here's Jim & Joe - UP's canteens for their steam excursion trains.  Built from a Shapeways item designed by James Norris (search on water bottles).  Brush painted, handrails are from Kato Dash 9, custom decals.  I'm happy!

Those look good. I'm trying to come up with a non-UP use for them.

If you are into passenger train operations they could make for some very interesting steam generator cars... something similar to these...

Or you could use them for diesel fuel storage like the UP did.

Here's a Rio Grande Models multi-media HOn3 flanger I built.  I added additional details using bolt castings, styrene, brass, phosphor bronze, and paper (for hinges).

Wow! That's amazing. It's beyond my abilities, for sure.

Hmm... it seems something
as simple as feeding me
is beyond Kiz's abilities
lately...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Some accomplishments on the ESM side regarding some stalled projects.  Finally have some good RP masters to make molds from.  Here is the 1950s White Tower master.  Click on the pics for larger images.

Pics of the LSG master are in the LSG thread.  Off for molding/casting later this month.

Lucky you! Are they destined for NP or GN?

Took my 8 year old to Timonium, came home with Legos

As for myself, I got 8 Intermountain covered hoppers for $40  :o  Went back later for a few more that I passed on when I was there first time and of course they were gone.  Lesson learned, only to be forgotten the next time.  Also picked up 3 CSX prints to hang in the train room.  All in all, good day, just not a lot of deals in my mind.

For anyone who may be interested in southeastern U.S. railroading, I am messing around with different products to represent kudzu.

Here's the best results yet.  Cut me a little slack, because this "kudzu" is still wet with adhesive, and I haven't really tried to manipulate it into its final form.  This is just an experiment at this point: leaf flock over poly fiber.  If it still looks good when it dries, I'll start adding climbing vines on the trestle and abutments, as well as the dense growth on the hill.  I may even add trees buried in the stuff!

Drove to Timonium from the home. 2 hours each way. I have proof Maryland drivers are crazy, especially the one who decided to throw a BBQ in the LH lane of the 695 Beltway. When the fire trucks come down the on ramp and do a 180 to get to your accident, it is not good. One of three major accidents on the drive home, but luckily they were all headed the opposite direction.

While there, I met Ed in person.  Had lunch with Doug and James. They were nice guys, and very new to trains. Ed's ok too.   Course I had to tell him in my freelanced layout world Conrail never existed, or at least that's my excuse for requisitioning a few favorite Eastern roads from the NS heritage run for run through power.

Went over to the CRHS table, which was physically about as far from the BaNTRAK table - where Ed said he would be before the transfer run to the Conrail gear. Found this. Say it ain't so. Selling his soul for some cars.

BTW, DaveFoxx, he said you did all his trackwork.  :D

I like that Dave! Have you tried the other stuff?

I hit up Timonium today, marginally "watched" the CRHS table, but really went out pillaging my way through the show.

Atlas kaolin & 33k gal tank cars for $6 a piece? IMRC covered hoppers and an Atlas NE-6 for $5? Yes sir. I'm glad I brought some cash.

Topped it off with some great company. Got to meet two asshats for the first time in person, which was excellent, and after I got home this evening, decided to channel my inner Xzibit and pimped my DT402D.
