Lets take a look at Tomix FineTrack

I was able to get a few pieces of Tomix Fine Track and take a look at the stuff. I am pretty impressed but the availability here in the US seems to be somewhat limited.
Anyone using this care to comment?

I don't use the Tomix track but after watching your video I just might.I think that track adapter is quite cleverand your thoughts ondoing a yard were very interesting.

interest for me is the Tomix Tram street track to use with my Kato Portram.  Another project that remains on hold because my dealer can't get it from normal distribution channels.  Risky business to order a pile of track components from an auction site if it does not meet my needs...

I can tell you two things from personal experience:

1)  Tomix/Tomtec/whatever is amazingly uninterested in any kind of US distribution chain.  With anybody.   I even took a long shot and approached them as I use a lot of their parts.   Nothing.  Not even a reply.    It's unbelievable to me that they don't work though Walthers, or anybody.  Anywhere, at least that I can find, as a US distributor.    If it happens, great, but it's like Microace, the stuff is too good to let the distribution chain mess it up.

2)  The 'internet auction site' Plaza Japan is an internet store that sells on Ebay as their electronic storefront, and his niche is that he can supply Japan-only N scale to well, nearly anywhere.  It's always 'buy it now', the auctions replenish as their stock does, shipping isn't much worse US - just slower,  and over time, I've gotten very comfortable with that.  The great majority of my kits DEPEND on him for chassis.  And it's been like that now for nearly...wow...eight years.   I think he's earned some trust here, certainly equal to many of the US dealers.   There may be others, that's fine, but he's done an excellent job with me.   Once Kato stopped distributing the 11-105 chassis via KatoUSA and US dealers, I thought I was done.  Well, I'm not.  Still going strong.

suggesting any mistrust of any individual or dealer.  A serious issue for me, if I secure a pile of track that does not meet my needs and must find a home via secondary markets like an auction site. 

An incredibly small niche in the US means a limited chance of a quick sale that results in a minimal loss of cash value.  As it goes right now a lack of time is more the issue than focusing on about Mr. Wallet happiness...

Here is an example of just how awesome Plaza Japan is. I once bought a Tomytec construction vehicle set along with some other items. This was not a cheap purchase... Over$100. Anyway, it got lost in the mail. He said he would air mail a replacement at no cost, which came 3 days later.

Two weeks after, the original package showed up after being held in customs for over a month. I emailed him and offered to ship it back. He told me to keep it for being a loyal customer. I have nothing but the highest respect for Plaza Japan.

Didn't Walthers recently become the exclusive US distributor for Tomix (TomyTec) items?  Like their powered bus line?  Maybe there will be more items available later?

I watched this video on Fb...thanks, Mike!
very useful info on this track....something else I noticed that may help those that like to ballast over the sectional track-because the Tomix track is more narrow and lower...I believe it would be easier top create a nice ballast profile, as in 'slope'.
I secure my code 55 flex to just one 'half' of the N scale cork...when ballasting, the ballast forms it's own slope-a perfect 45 degree slope...of course, I use slightly more ballast, but the payoff in appearance is entirely worth it...
I think the Tomix track would help achieve the same results...regardless, nice to know that there are additions to the Kato Unitrack available...I really like the lower siding and yard effects that Mike suggested.
