Glue to use on cardboard mock ups

I'm planning on working on some mock ups for my city district using the cardboard from cereal boxes, which is fairly sturdy.  I'd like a glue that is effective and fast setting, so I'm looking for some recommendations.

I regularly use thick CA on cardboard.

3M scrapbook glue is amazing.  I've been using it on all my cardboard buildings I'm making.  It's clear, grabs very fast but gives you a little time to position before it totally sets.  It also has two ends, one is like a felt pad with holes so you can wet down a large area with it,  the other is a thin nozzle. 


But if you want instant grab and very quick drying you'll probably want CA.  I just find it a bit too unforgiving in its instant grab, also I tend to glue everything to my fingers instead of the project.

Barron, often I will use multiple glues at once.  For example if I'm gluing wood to wood and am in a bit of hurry, I'll put a large dot of hot glue in the middle and surround  with either carpenter's glue or two part epoxy.  The hot glue holds the wood in place acting as a clamp and the other glues dries offering the strength.

I suspect I might be doing the same with some of the structures, maybe some quick grab CA for initial stability then more thorough gluing for bracing and the such.

Not sure of the drying time but it tacks up real quick.Back when I was a smoker half a cigarette was long enough to start more gluing.If you can clamp the joint it is even faster.

For cardboard, matte board or other paper, I still use plain old white glue. It doesn't take that long to set up. Its shelf life is virtually forever. You can clean the clogged up spout with warm water.

From all the choices so far, for cardboard mockups, I like the hot glue the best.

I haven't glued wood to card stock before. Does the wood soak up the CA like a sponge?

Use thick(ish) CA. I bond wood to cardboard to resin to other stuff all the time. My CA of choice is brush-on Krazy Glue:



IMO, the best thing to come along since CA itself.
