I think your team track is too far away from the depot.
Can you post some prototype inspiration for the exact area you're trying to replicate?
Also, don't fall into the "model railroad" traps like having to have more industries than your interests really dictate.
Oh, and I almost forgot. What era are you doing again?
I'd considered distance between team track and depot too, but I'm okay with it.
Other than duplicating elements I liked from a previous false-start, then slapping a name on the plan so I can operate B&M equipment with a straight face, there really isn't any prototype reference.
Like I said, I'm trying hard to avoid building a bowl of spaghetti...
But then, there's only so much restraint an enthusiastic n00b can muster.
With respect to period modeled, I'm doing what most n00bs do:
I'm modelling the very narrow, specific transition period between February 1949 and April 1971.
Berkshires might very well co-mingle with SD70ACe's.
In all seriousness, After my last false-start, and getting held up at the modelling gate since moving, I'm really chomping at the bit to get something "real" started.
In light of that, I'm willing to turn a blind eye to the odd prototypical faux pas, with a self-understanding that any such issues will be corrected over time.
