So Bryan, when will ESM be releasing NYNH&H catenary kits? :D

TrainCat will be making some in etched brass this year. There's a thread about it somewhere on the forum...

Just hangin out down by the tracks with a mug - o - coffee and a camera when.....

Two different weathering efforts on some of those wonderful BLMA hoppers. The heavily rusted hopper is based on this:

http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/gn/gn71739akr.jpg

It looks a little "louder" in photos than in person....

Hope to get a chnace to weather a few more of these today..... ;)
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I have had a few days over the past week to hammer out the artwork for the walkways and railings, as well as some additional detail parts for the Cisco high bridge.   I'll send those two sheets for production next week, but in the meantime, I started to build the stryene decks for the approach bridges.

There is pretty much no info on how the concrete upper deck that holds the ballast is shaped, and few pictures of this part of the bridge. What I am doing is fashioning a styrene box to support the ballast and track that will rest on the beams below.  The proportions are a good match to the few photos I have and a test fit indicates so far so good.  I'm a little concerned about the radius of the curve this bridge structure is forming, so I may alter that.

I can't believe I have been working on this bridge for a year now.

Mike, nice looking hoppers!

I kitbashed a master for a Kato E5 B unit. The shell is now in Silicon Rubber but I took two photos before I started the mold making process. I should have castings early this week if all goes well.

Hey... I see the rivets!!!

I had wondered just how well you could match up the rivet pattern on the two panels you added to the roof and your photo shows a great match.  One of the only real complaints that I have had about the IM F-units were some missing rivets on the roof but looking at how your's looks on the shell I would be open to considering them now that the missing rivets could be applied.  The Archer rivets appear to be a good match.

You have contributed quite a bit to modeling passenger equipment in N-scale this past year and I for one do appreciate all of what you have done.  The choices that you have made, along with some other smaller manufacturers, have definitely raised the bar in regards to what can be modeled in N and I don't think we thank you and the others enough for what you do.  This shell is but one example that will make modeling Varnish in N-scale a more appealing to a wider number of potential modelers.  Thanks so very much!!!

I remember some time back that someone had shared a model of one of these GN cars that he had built... maybe we will luck out and he be a part of the uses here and can share that shot with us.

I'm not sure if you're referring to this car, however, I built this one some many years ago.

Been working on four more buildings for the Armstrong packing plant – my third, fourth and fifth attempts at scratchbuilding in the background, plus an (unpainted) MT ice house kit in the foreground.

Here’s the overall complex, with Cedricsburg yard in the foreground.

Yeah, lots to learn in regards to building structures. But they at least make a nice backdrop for what’s happening in the yard.

That's it!!!

I have loved these little cars since I first seen some from the Norfolk Southern Railway, just after the merger into Southern.  Not sure what the commodity was for the NS cars but the Seaboard cars had roof hatches (can't find my SAL Color Guide right now so I can't say for sure what they were used for).  Both the NS and SAL cars were Evans Products rebuilds.

Put styrofoam insulation on about 40 linear feet of rim joists today .. tmrw we will do another 40.  By the end of January, I hope to have all the insulation done and sealed with great stuff .. that should help keep it warmer .. went through 4 cans of great stuff ..

Nice model, but not the same car - yours has waffle sides and lacks the grain door within the plug door.  Your car number is 4227; I was told that the series of cars from which my model came was 4400-4699.  Otherwise very similar.
