Just noticed, that the GP-7 in PRR was released again with different part number and road number.

First run:
http://www.internettrains.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IT&Product_Code=BAC-62451&Category_Code=NSCLOCDSLBACG7D&Featured=

Latest run:
http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Bachmann-N-EMD-GP7-PA-p/bac-62457.htm

Sneaky Bachperson just putting stuff out there not telling us.

That second run (which also includes a new Rock Island scheme) was announced way back last February. It seems to be taking an unusually long time to get here (by Bachmann standards)...

Cheers,

I see BLW is also listing the Bachmann 0-6-0 and 2-6-2 as new in stock. I liked what I read in Spooky's reviews ... but how easy/difficult is it to convert these to DCC?

The first thing I'd do is get rid of the stock tender and replace it with one of Bachmann's DCC-Ready tenders. Then all you'd need to do is wire a decoder to the tender PC board and then run a couple of wires up to the motor.

Do you have any release info. I went and searched Bachmanns website and could only find the NMRA and some other big show announcement. None referenced the new numbers, nor new road names that I remember seeing.

The second run models show as "sold out", but that just means they haven't received them yet.

I can't find the announcement it's not easily found on the website and not in the NMRA or iHobby Expo announcements.

Actually I find that the new version is also non dynamic braked to be even more interesting then the number. The original release (I have 2) have dynamic breaks.

In addition, there are three new road names for the ten-wheeler:  B&O, C&O and NYC&StL.  I do not recall that B-mann ever announced those roadnames.  Also, a certain East Coast Hobby Store that is well known for good prices and service, that also operates a brick and mortar establishment, has the NW-2s.

I don't know that there was ever an official announcement (per se). I first heard about them when they showed up in the "New at BLW" section of BLW's website last winter (at which point I reserved one of the Rock Island units). It seems that Bachmann only makes out and out announcements for brand new models.

Yes they do show on their webpage now.

Curious to see if anyone has compared a Bmann NW-2 to those funky Japanese imported models of which so much is made.

I suspect that they have recently arrived at the dealers.  I just ordered mine yesterday.  I suspect that it will arrive shortly, as they are outside Baltimore and I am in Washington.  This, at least, has been my past experience.  If no one starts a topic on this, I probably will, once it comes and I get a chance to run it.

The Kato has been the subject of more than a few complaints.  I have one that is working and one awaiting repaint to my non-historic Short Creek and Nopedale.  The one that is working is probably the busiest locomotive on my railroad and performs well.  I have not experienced the cracked or out of alignment gears that more than a few others have.
