 More of west Oroville

A steel supply or manufacturing company will be where the flats and gons are.

A food warehouse with track on 2 levels will be where the refers and boxcars are.

A concrete plant where the 2 hoppers are on the far right and a small slaughterhouse with stock pens at the far end.

Thanks Gordon, but didn't make the convention this year. Wife had foot surgery and is basically in a wheel chair till the middle of July.

Having looked at enough track charts to help a friend w/ his WP layout, don't recall ever seeing a spur Xing two other tracks to get to another location.

No, there wasn't that I know of. Using modeler license here to add a lot of opps to the layout. The WP prototype didn't have much in the way of local traffic in Oroville or Portola, but mine will.

Started working on east Oroville. I hope to get 10 to 12 industries on the south side of the tracks (right side in the first photo) and another 4 to 8 on the north side.

I'm out of #5's right turnouts and need to get a bunch before I can do much more.

 Looking east of the yard.

Looking west, back towards the yard.

The fiddle yard

The saw mill will have 5 track to work.

I need to take a few days and do some cleaning, and then I'll start designing and cutting out some structures for the industries.

Can't believe it's been a year since I've posted on the layout. I've been busy working on the "add on" that I needed to get all 78 inches of Clio Trestle to fit on the layout. I was going to try to have the layout on tour for the NMRA Convention, but as it got closer and I had the mainline tore apart, I chickened out. I was afraid I wouldn't get it back up and running in time. But now I'm going to take a few weeks off work and try to have trains running in time for a few guests that want to see and operate on the layout.
I know you want photo's, so here they are.

 Before

The mess that I'm in the middle of. This new addition is about 9' X 13'6".

This has shrunk the lounge area some, but the way I had the furniture arranged, I never really lost that much.
I hope to have all the rewiring done and start hanging sheetrock tomorrow.

Happy to see you back, Rodney. I wondered what happened. Shame that Robyn and I can't make it to KC for the show (I'm double-booked), we're overdue to chat over a beer or two to commiserate the awfulness of life getting in the way of grandiose layout projects. ;)

I've wanted to do this update for several weeks now but life kept getting in the way. Wife is out of town the weekend and I found the time, so here it is.

Well here is what the new addition looks like now. This will be Blairsden (Ca) with a large sawmill and a few small industries for switching work.

Looking back railroad west towards Williams Loop

 towards Portola (railroad east)

Here is the new entry to the railroad

In the process of building 80 inch long Clio Trestle. Mine will be a few scale feet longer than the prototype, as that is what I could cut the ME girders to make it look right. All of the wider ones had to be cut down from each end to make it come out right.

Rodney, you're a track-laying monster. By the looks of that, I have my work cut out for me.  :o
