Mark Dance, that video is great.  I really like how you have incorporated interesting operations into the overall layout.  When I get bogged down in the details and a larger layout seems too much, seeing yours in action is a real inspiration.

Speaking of tone , a motion detector triggering an off beat five chimer will make the heart beat faster , or stop it in its tracks .

Nah... that's a plain-vanilla Nathan P-3 with one chime maybe a little dirty. Hear them around here all the time.

Now THIS is a horn. Instant heart attack:

Added a new wing of upper deck benchwork for the Muskwa Industrial sidings at Fort Nelson.   Not too much to report other than that.

This will be the future location of Sulphur loadout, and fuel terminals.   This area was originally conceived as a peninsula but putting it along the wall made more sense and will allow most of the large fuel storage tanks to be represented on a photo backdrop.

You might win the Bullet Sur-Prize for trying that on the wrong person . :D

scratchbuilt a station using some parts from an atlas kit.

also added some coal loads to the steam, and gave a coat of red to some more MV passenger equipment/cabooses.

and while i had the nice camera out i grabbed a shot of the B&M milk car I've been working on.

Richie,

Your opening photo reminded me of this photo of a Copper Range Railroad inspection car. Looks like they caught their limit of trees.
Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.

Best wishes, Dave

Due to an illness in our extended family I never got the chance to send Bryan my ESM contest entry (not that it compares to the winners... geez guys, wow !) but I thought I'd offer it up to Weekend Update

In BC you occasionally see huge dimentional lumber loads - 2' x 2' x 60' beams, specially cut for temples, churches, lodges and the like. here the PVR guys have "kidnapped" a stray LV mill gon and presed it into duty carrying just such a load....

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Thinking of warmer weather...  It's July, 1956 and a K4s on the point of a westbound mail and express train arrives at Lewistown Junction.

Today we're shooting with color film!

I couldn't help but finish up the Pete last night. After some windows and etched mirrors installed she'll be ready for the harvest.

That looks really nice. What parts from the Atlas kit were used? Looks like you scratch-built the roof(?)

I have a few July 2012 photos of improved foliage, trees, detailing on the N scale Santa Fe Peavine Line:

http://home.comcast.net/~j.sing/Peavine_Layout_Overview.html

Here's a couple of those more recent shots:

http://home.comcast.net/~j.sing/Peavine_Layout_Overview.html#Updates_1Q2010

The layout has been packed away for the past 15 months while I've been executing my move to Sarasota, Florida.  Hopefully in 1Q14, the room will be
ready in my new permanent Florida home for the layout to come back out of storage and work to resume.   I'm looking forward to it!

Happy holidays to all.
