We just secured an apartment today, so that's good. It has a parking space, a huge garage, and most importantly, built in 1980 so it seems we are free from lead.

Parking space = good
huge garage = good (especially if it's joe's garage: http://youtu.be/G2b0OIkTraI)
1980 =
1. Call Me, Blondie
2. Another Brick In the Wall, Pink Floyd
3. Magic, Olivia Newton-John
4. Rock With You, Michael Jackson
5. Do That to Me One More Time, The Captain and Tennille
6. Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Queen
7. Coming Up, Paul McCartney
8. Funkytown, Lipps, Inc.
9. It's Still Rock and Roll to Me, Billy Joel
10. The Rose, Bette Midler

At least you're on yr way to Funkeytown.

Good luck with the move and hope all models (including yrself) make it!  :D

I made more progress on the AC-9s.  A few more details are needed, then paint.

Got the layout back in shape after the basement flood.  My wife happened to be running up to Denver yesterday so she got me a new DCC power supply.  Apparently I do need to clean some cobwebs!  Pardon the quickie iPhone grab...

What am I doing here since I switched back to HO scale? Truth is, you guys have the best weekly photo thread, so I still visit nearly every week!

Dave, sorry to hear you had a flood! As I'm sure you'll recall, I've been through several. Cleanup sucks, for sure. Glad the layout itself wasn't damaged. The shot is great!

I'm currently putting in track through my Lewistown (again, in HO). My blog is at http://jbritton.pennsyrr.com. Here's a shot:

Great stuff! :D

To add to the heavy truck building presence this week, I finally finished my operating Hi-Rail MOW truck...

This was kitbashed from a discontinued Showcase Miniatures MOW boom truck, however the tools (compressor, welder, buckets and tool box) in the back and the mirrors are new releases from Showcase. The truck rides on a modified Kato Pocket Locomotive chassis.

Talk about the wrong side of town...

Maybe I should have a run of these done for giveaways!

Giveaways?  Hell I'd buy two of them for fundraising purposes.

Dave, Good to see the Juniata Division is back up and running.   The only update I have is the removal of the ADM silo's and the addition of the Mudusa cement bulk transfer facility on the Long Valley Branch.

That's awesome Lee!  Do I smell N scale decals coming?
Since the background is white, these decals can be printed on any ol' laser or inkjet printers.  :D

Took Joy's Mazda out for a railfan trip along Route 2. I ended up following the wrong trackage and ended up in Vermont. No NECR action unfortunately.

Should have come out today. I was running a GW orange unit today as a leader North in the snow.

Thanks! Heh. I was born in '83 and love 80's music. "Magic" is such a haunting song. I can really zone out there.
In other news, perhaps coincidentally, as I was rounding everything up, I happened across a stack of N Scale magazines and pulled one.  It featured both you and Peteski. I read it and thought "wow! I can't wait to teach my son to build turnouts!" He's only 18 months old, so he's got a ways to go.

No, I said "Ed's Law."

Ah, you picked a great issue of N-Scale Magazine!   :D
!980s was when I turned from teens into twenties. It was lots of fun, cruising through Revere and Hampton beaches, in my souped up 1976 Camaro, windows rolled down, listening to "Urgent" by Foreigner, on a cassette tape in my Vector Research stereo and 40W booster/equalizer, with the bass cranked up, blaring through the 6x9 Pioneer speakers!  Those were the days!

On my layout, I've progressed to the west end of New Haven.  Through tracks 1, 2, 3 and 5 past the station area are down, so I decided to start building my first handlaid turnout without using a Fast-Track fixture.  Actually, a pair of turnouts as they practically are on top of each other.  The points of the second turnout are a half-inch behind the frog of the first turnout.  They are long with sweeping curves in order to merge tracks 5 and 7 into track 3 and accommodate passenger traffic, so I had to make it from scratch.  A standard passenger platform will be between tracks 3 and 5, while a narrow platform will be between tracks 5 and 7, which is a stub track in front of the station.  I drew the template in SolidWorks and used double-sided tape on the printout to position the copper ties and solder the track.

All the soldering is done and the clearances have been checked.  I still have to cut the rails to isolate the frogs before adding the wood ties and the wire feeds.

I had mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I had started rolling my own track.
Well here are the first attempts, anyone want some really, really, really dodgy track for abandoned ROW?

These should be N #4's the first right unit is ME C55 the others are Peco C80, the C55 is causing me all kinds of trouble due to the small size, I may need to leave it for a period until I can get the C80 down pat.

To prove I'm not completely shite at this here is my HO #6 in C80 that was my third attempt at turnout laying:

One of these days the quality will translate down a scale. You may also notice the other project I'm working on, given the number of wingnuts we have here 5 points to the  :ashat: that guesses correctly
