Mark Dance:  I also like your scenery.  It definitely looks like the Northwest mountains I remember.

As for the bridge, the deck probably should be wider, but I also have one (a deck girder) on a curve, and the rails are just as far off center.  The outer rail is directly over the girder, which is not acceptable, but at least it's not OUTSIDE the girder, which would probably result in the bridge turning over.  Yours also looks to be stable, if not well engineered, and as long as it doesn't show from normal angles, visitors aren't likely to notice it.  If they do, and they have any manners, they won't say anything!  It is a nice bridge, and they'll probably be too busy looking at it to notice the track.

Thank you. Yes it should definately be wider but doing so would have forced compromises in other areas, specifically the piers. Different deck widths would have been a marked departure from the prototype and, because the model is curved and the protoype is not, I was worried this *would* have caused design differences that would have been visible from normal viewing angles, whereas the rail location to back deck is less so. Oh the compromises we make!

You know if his mouth was open it could be used as a set out point for a box car.

...or lighting.

Hmm... or anything
worthwhile...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

During my college years, I worked summers in a paint factory along the Belt Railway of Chicago. I remember watching Milwaukee Road transfer freights going by the building where I worked, Usually with beat up old F-units but sometimes with a pair of GP-9's. I had a great vantage point on one of the upper floors but never brought a camera to work with me. (don't think I had a decent camera until after I graduated) In any case, this photo stirs old memories for me. 98C still looks good after years in passenger service. However, she won't be seeing any Hiawatha like speeds working these transfer runs!

Great shot Bill! Is that FP-7 an Intermountain model or your bash as detailed in NSR a couple of years ago?

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Opened my layout for Tour de Chooch in New Hampshire/Mass.  This was my first time on the tour.  Had some great help and had a great time talking to fellow Model Railroaders.

It's a kitbashed Kato FP7. I did two of them but I also have an Intermountain A-B set that I'm putting sound into.

Finished the project to make Sears Tower 10 stories taller and also added  "The Ledge" which is a new feature on the real tower.  Here's the prototype.

And my interpretation.

Also continued work on Pete Nolan's Harbor Cruise ship kit.  I added the sidestrakes (the half round trim on the lower hull).  Joining the two sidestrakes at the bow was a rewarding challenge.  Painted the lower hull red and started installing the brass hand rails and folded up the stairway etchings and popped the treads into their horizontal position.

Here it is with the pilot house, funnel and rear trim sitting in place but not attached.  Railing work will continue next.

Bill Denton --Which paint company did you work for?  I spent summers and college breaks at Benjamin Moore in Melrose Park 1969-1971.  Got to unload 120 degree boxcars full of powdered paint ingredients :D  but at $2.50 an hour to start I was making more than twice minimum wage, had great muscles and was skinny for the only time in my life!
Best regards,

Roger
