I assume the reason that the recently announced Micro-Trains SW1500s cost $20 (list) more for the UP and BN versions is the cost associated with licensing said company's livery schemes and logos? Does this really generate enough money for them to be worth the bad PR? What is it, one more ivory backscratcher for Warren Buffet?  :x

UP and BNSF do not charge any licensing fees.  The extra cost is probably related to the additional painting operations required to create the multiple colors on these road names.

I'm just wondering... didn't Micro-Trains say they would offer undecorated locos too? And too, why have reservations... seems to me they could just make a million and sell out almost immediately.  :lol:

The extra cost is MTL doing eastern modelers a solid and sticking it to the 'everything in western roads' crowd  :trollface:

Why is Micro-Trains doing Conrail. New Orleans Public Belt switchers would sell lots better. :trollface:

I remember quite a stir about UP wanting to charge licensing fees several years ago, but has BN/BNSF even suggested that they would?

What do they mean by plug and play DCC?  Is this a drop in board replacement or a NEM 651 or 652 socket?
