OK guys, after the great help in figuring out what, if any, models exist to pass as one of the DME 57xx cars I've got another one for you... What should I start with to build some of the 54xx ex-UP cars?

My gut reaction was the new MT 60ft double plug door auto parts box. Robbman will be along shortly to correct me.

Isn't this closer to the announced ATSF car from BLMA?

Actually, it may be closer to the WOT PC&F cars, just add ribs.  I can't back up my claim at this time but that strikes me as a PC&F design.

Ooooh those do like about right. I don't pay much attention to WOT, my brain cataloged them under passenger cars and they don't really flip my switch. A guy could add some ribs easy enough, but the 6' door looks a little narrow. I could live with it though, these might be the ticket.

The BLMA cars are interesting too, they could work with a few feet whacked off. Or it's possible there are some in the 57xx series that look like them, I'll keep an eye out.

Isn't the DME a 60' beer car? The WOT car is 50' The WOT car also has a 6'/8' door combination while the DME car has a 8'/8' door combo.

I would start with the Red Caboose PCF 62' beer car. It has the rib centers correct. I used one for a similar build. In this case, a 53' FGE beer car:

This will be a rather complex chop job. the sides would be 4 parts. Two doors and two rib sections glued together. The Red Caboose ends may work, I would have to go and check.

This would be an interesting project and I have several PCF bodies left over from my FGE project. Does anyone have plans or drawings of these cars?

If I'm going to cast my FGE cars, I may as well do another body too.

Bumping this topic. Besides UP/DME, does anyone else own this PCF car? Are there any drawings or photos available?
