I'd rather just place the model under actual catenary. ;)

No kidding!  After all of Ron's super-tuning of the mechanism, it will be a shelf curb queen (like most brass locos).    :D

Wind deflectors ordered.
Jax blackener ordered.

Now I need to turn my attention to the grab irons.

wondering?

how does Back Jax differ from Neo Lube?
I a guessing it is not a "lube" per se and perhaps not electrical conductive,
thus better for use of blackening things like wheels?
but, then, that is just a guess.
any info will be appreciated--

kindest regards

I'll let someone else answer with details.

It was recommended a couple of pages back (if you want to check).
I have no experience with it.
This will be my first time.

Neo lube is a ...lubricant.  It is powdered graphite solution in alcohol.  It is actually conductive but it is also not permanent. It sits on the surface and you can wipe it off with your finger.  It is not really dark but graphite color.

Jax stuff is a chemical blackener.  Like the hobby store Blacken-It solution (or a gun bluing solution).  It chemically (and permanently) deposit a dark layer onto the metal.  It does not rub off.   I'm not sure if it is conductive but if it isn't the layer is so thin that it wears of quickly from the wheel thread.

Since Bryan has brought up Cat wire......

I had planned to ask this.

For an article, of course I want to take multiple photos.

One shot will be the way this loco looked at the Railroad Fair (hence the lightning bolts).

But another shot would be "under the wire."

But I don't have any cat stuff.  Soooooooo.......

If I was going to have a pretend wire on my photo module, how high off the rail should that wire be?

... If I was going to have a pretend wire on my photo module, how high off the rail should that wire be?

I think it varies from road to road.  Matt Gaudynski or Kirk Reddie may know.  Or if not, know where to find out.  I just sent an inquiry to both.  I'll post the answer when I receive it.
