Aside from the size of Minatur Wunderland and the ships floating in real water, the number of figures was what really left an impression with us.  That stadium was amazing.

We went to the Railroad Kingdom in Prague this weekend.  Not quite the same, but fun anyway.

By accident, we discovered a coin operated layout in a train station in Berlin!  I'm sure it was 4'X8' and had four loops of track.

their is a coin-op HO layout in Koln's HbF also, it was a lifesaver for my daughter and I when we had to kill 6 hours there, waiting for a connecting train....

What would you say, 40 or 50 thousands figures in the entire place filling scenes like these?? Maybe more.... :o

The number of vehicles was up there as well.

Yes, these are all individual figures at the concert...

I had the opportunity to get up close to some hoppers under the patient, watchful eye of Brian (RockGP40).  I got almost 200 reference shots, and learned about how certain rust patterns are caused.  This is an example of what I was photographing:

LOL!  While I have not met either one of you in person, when I first looked at that image I thought "what was Mark (spookshow) doing car-hopping with Tom?"   To me Tom looks like Mark (at least in that photo) :D

As far as Miniatur Wunderland goes, they must be Preiser's #1 customer.

Gosh I remember that layout well; I had an early morning layover in Koln station back in 1990 and the layout was one of the few things of interest at that hour of the morning.

I will have to see the Hamburg layout one day.

A friend and I did a test to see how much my ABBA set of IM FTs would pull around the club test tracks. My cars, then a caboose followed by his cars.

Yes, that's the Superchief on the end.

So you get to drive an Alco and are contracting asthma at a slower pace than the guys who have to drive a real Alco?  I'm getting better at this positive attitude stuff...

BTW, this weekend I got my workbench set-up, took my airbrushes out to clean them for use, and went hunting for Rivarossi tank cars in Timonium.  I managed to find a nice photo of an NP dynamometer car and scored two Rivarossi cars at the very, very last table I looked at.  But I also met a guy who claims to have all of the MRR mag back issues through about 1976, in good condition, which he will give to me for $100 if I haul them out of his garage an hour away.  If I don't come back in 48 hours, call the police...

the one in Koln allowed us to run trains for 10 minutes on 50 euro cents.  :o so needless to say, we wasted about 2 hours total off and on all night, and didn't spend too much. that was a long night, we were lucky that the Burger King had wifi, and had sympothy towards myself and my daughter, and let us sit in the back part of the dining room, which was technically closed. I had my laptop, and we watched a movies or two, and TV shows to kill time also. Also we did a lot of train watching.
