The NACC PD3000 and corrugated gons are all up on MBK's website... is that a mass stampede of wallets running for cover that I hear?

http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/N-Scale-s/3.htm

There are even some for this road called 'the Conrail'...

Cool!   And a few new quads too.   I believe that's 9 or 10 cars for me, arriving all at once.  :scared:

PPG cars are good for 1990's, am I correct???

I hope the second run includes the NAHX cars, because those are the ones I recall being most common...

I'm leaning on passing on the CR gons, since I don't think they pass the "n-foot" rule on the CR prototypes.
Correct me if wrong, but CR picked up the ex-RI non-corrugated cars, didn't they?

CR had some very similar corrugated cars.

PPG should be OK for the late 90's I think.

This is an expensive order... bought three gons, three PD hoppers and another C40-8W

Found them (607xxx) in the Color Guide - close enough for me...  BTW they are shown hauling those long coiled wires piled on top of each other - no covers.

I wish they had gone for a more general Conrail prototype.. Coil steel service really limits my buy-ability of this model from all 6 down to 1-2.. Then I need to find covers.. :(

 ~Ian

As I mentioned above, the photos in the Color Guide show them with NO covers - carrying coiled steel wire (used in stamping out bolts, nails, etc...)

I posted it here once,  but there is an easy way to reproduce that coiled wire - I used the picture hanger wire from Wal Mart and spun it around a small dowel about a zillion times, pushing it tightly together at the end....  It looks just about right.

Ljudice:  That's probably the same basic method the prototype uses.  Spin it on a core, and shove the finished coils off the end.

Anyone know, do the TWX PD3000's have individually unique lettering like those at Spring Mills Depot? Also, did CR return them to the lessor in 1989??
I thought I saw them after that.

Update:  sounds like the CR PD3000's are no good for post 1989.  I will be waiting the next release and hopefully NAHX cars.

More TWX gons for me....

The PC/CR PD-3000's were leased from NACC for a period of 15 years. They were Phase 1b cars (TWX only did Phase 3 cars and put whatever scheme they liked on them.) One of the more unique modifications that occurred during the PC/CR lease of the cars is that the angled gauge housing was relocated from the car bolster to the side of the car.

Following the end of the PC/CR lease, some of these cars were then subsequently leased to Blue Circle Cement, and even retained the "H58" class assigned to them by PC.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, John - I noticed the H58 on those cars and was wondering...
