If you go to the Micro Trains website, you can see links to the prototype GWIX cars on RRPictureArchives.net.  Considering that Joe is mass producing these cars, I think he did an outstanding job.  It'll be interesting to see how he is doing it (full side printing or templates?).

I don't yet have those to confirm, but like I mentioned, some recent weathered releases were a hybrid of ink/paint jet printed weathering and the conventional airbrushing.  The fine rust streaks are most likely computer printed.  I'll know more when I get my hands on one of those.

Hot!
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

So what do they haul? Don't recognize that road name or artwork.

If I were to guess:  Drilling muds or fracturing fluids.

So either stuff they use to lubricate the drills or the stuff they pump into the ground to  release all the trapped goodies they want.

Either way, this stuff comes from a variety of locations across the country and heads to anywhere that drilling is common -- Texas or the Dakotas mostly.

I'm not sure, but the two "drain pipes" just above the sill on the proto photos would be a huge clue, although I've never seen anything quite like them before.   :o

Wow is right!  The MT weathered cars are about the only ones that I've been interested in buying recently -- and they keep getting better and better

Me too.  Just need Chuck to update his site so I can order a set, and try to get in on that Friso car too.

BLW has them already, and they are selling singles (their choice of road number).  I pulled the trigger on one, and other then what I owe Chuck already in pre-orders, that's going to be my last order of the year.

Yeah, well most of the stuff that will actually be delivered in 2013 is already in Chuck's que.

Plus I have enough projects to keep me busy during the next furlough

Ordered both as soon as I saw this thread......and I am on an ordering sabbatical myself.  But these are just too good and in my 2005 era, I need all the repaint and graffiti cars I can muster to get the right look.

I guess we cannot call those ugly freight cars a "thing of beauty" but that was the first phrase that came to my mind.

DRD, I will let you look at the Frisco, or even one of the four covered hoppers at the IHB, and if you want it then, we can strike a deal!

They are not in stock yet, note says they will be in stock on/around 10/25/13.  All orders including those cars will hold until then.  I'd love to have the drilling cars, 3 of the 4 look to be ex-Chessie System cars.  Just can't swing another $100.  And with my luck, if I ordered 1, they would send the one car that isn't ex CS

I pulled the trigger on all five cars.  Had to have the Halloween car and the others are just.....wow!!!  Homerun from MT on these.
