The photo is of a deco sample.  The artwork has been adjusted for production (just don't ask me what the actual date is, Cory is out of the office today).

Question on the UP version... for anyone... the Atlas sample shows red oxide sides with black roof and ends. Is that right? My perception might be skewed by years of looking at B&W pics, which could mask the contrast.

I know that Pullman liked to paint the ends of their cars black, and several railroads immediately repainted the ends to whatever was their own policy (PRR, ahem) and I did find a pic online which shows a UP car from the same series with what appears to be black ends (and a peeling roof!)

Paul said the artwork has been modified on some of the cars since these pilot models were made, so we'll have to wait for the production run cars to arrive to confirm the service dates.

Cushioned underframes will have to be kitbashed into the NYC car, and the PRR X48 (which will be available shortly from Prototype N Models in November).  BLMA ASF Ride Control roller bearing trucks should be a match to prototype for the UP car.  The BLMA A-3 and Ride Control trucks with 33" wheels have the exact same bolster height and configuration as the Atlas S-2 trucks, so all three are interchangeable.

So I did some trolling on the atlas site and have service dates for the upcoming releases, if anyone is interested.
Paul did indicate that there had been revisions to the artwork, so things may have changed

Pretty sure the as-built SAL scheme was boxcar red with white and red print — unless they were insulated cars, in which case they would be aluminum with red print and a black heart.  The non-insulated aluminum boxcar schemes are a 1960s thing, as is the large billboard lettering.

From what I have, SAL Nos. 25000-25499 were delivered in BCR with "The Route of Courteous Service" slogan.  Some cars were later modified.  This car in particular had 6" of roof insulation for transporting beer which is why it has the silver scheme.  The insulation also gave it less cubic capacity then other cars in the series.

Normally I believe that is true, however this car does have a red heart for whatever reason.

From the picture in the color guide, the door tack board should be in the upper position, maybe Atlas will catch that.  If nothing else, hopefully none of the cars  in this run will be delivered with their running board elevated at the ladders as every photo shows. 

BTW, good job to Atlas on the NYC two-tone ladder/sill step.  The car look great (even without a black roof   ).

The SAL may have been the largest buyer of the PS-1 w/ 8' doors.  I doubt you'll have to wait long for a BCR scheme.  Besides, unless you're needing beer from Tampa,  this isn't a car you're going to miss too much if you model pre-70's.
