Just a sign of over-compaction on the fill and a subgrade failure or the whole thing is an active slide area ...anything can be explained :)

It's the Conrail gangsta lean. I thought that was obvious.

You know, thinking about this... the posts about the lean are the reason I love this place.

I posted those photos on a few Facebook groups. I got tons of "likes", some attaboys. Facebook is nice for my ego... but then, here, you guys pick it apart and now have me thinking about posting a slow order there, or seeing if I can free the concrete ballast and level things up...

Another one from while I was downstairs throwing some laundry in.

Remember, come see it yourself on the 25th: http://conrail1285.com/2-2017-open-house/

The engineers ate at Chaps before leaving Baltimore on their run through York.   8)

Are they actually leaning, Ed, or is it the camera angle?

Looking good Ed, the only suggestion I have is to see if you can grind up your deadfall/ground leaf littered to be any finer... the color is great the texture perhaps a bit too course unless that whole area is getting trees? Getting it small enough in HO for macro shots was fun enough, not sure if this is an issue of scaling textures etc. edit: perhaps it is less the overall texture than a few larger clumps or pieces that get distracting in a macro view without the rest of the detailing being done to make the visual more complex. Particularly to the left of the leading unit are some pieces that look coupler sized or bigger

Yep, you're right about the leaves. I wish I knew a solution to that, because I don't think there's much I can do.

Everywhere that you see them, though, they'll be covered with trees, so hopefully it'll be masked somewhat.

Outstanding modeling the backdrop works perfectly with the scenery. As far as the fallen leaves go they look pretty good. The only way I can think to get smaller would be using real leaves ground up then put through a sieve or possibly dyed tea out of a tea bag if dying the tea could be done without too much hassle. I use the super leaf scale leaf material by scenery express for my trees and brush and it looks pretty good to me. I also am going to be putting down fallen leaves so will probably do what your doing.

Thanks!

I've got some leaves like that, but the nice thing about these is that they're commercially available. When I need more, I just place an order.

And, here's a new photo.

There is scale too. Grind up leaves even finer and it will just start to look like dirt. At least over sized you get the overall texture.
