Ed, I seen this video in a FB group and immediately thought of you and your ops app/site you are working on.

I think this is awesome!

No, I said "Ed's Law."

Big day on the NC yesterday... While I was being a bum after a busy week of travel and activities, I got to spend some time in the basement.

And I did the following:
1. Painted all of the stuff I had spackled the week before. I went over to Lowes the other day and was looking at Valspar's paints. It turns out that buying samples is cheaper, ounce for ounce, than craft paints. Plus, you can get whatever color you want. The only downside is that they're satin instead of flat. I got a nice good "dirt" color called "Treetrunk".

2. Spackled what I hadn't before. I had run out of goop before finishing, so I finished that up.

3. Installed a tortoise! I was slightly concerned because, of course, the throw bar itself was directly above a frame member, but I was able to angle the wire, and  used one of @rodsup9000's awesome mounts, hot glued to the foam. I then used a SNAP to connect it to my decoder which still has a few open slots. I still need to wire up the frog, but it's nice to see it working, and to have all of CP WINDSOR STREET all working.

I'm thinking about maybe applying some more spackling and doing some more sanding to some of the rougher areas. Thoughts?

I try to knock off the hog lips in the spackle but I wouldn't worry about adding more spackle.  Looks like good coverage to me.

When I finish getting the tortoises and other switch alignment devices installed.

WTH is a "switch alignment devices" and does it require a full season to be broken in correctly?

Damn bro.  :RUEffinKiddingMe: Keep up: it's an abstracted term to describe both powered switch machines (Tortoises) and manual ones (slide switches).

You're just salty that my railroad was running first (and running fine, even without glue).  :D

It's even cheaper to go to the miss-mix bin and look for a suitable earth tone at $5/gallon.  You could repackage it and sell it to rubes the way Woodland Scenics does with white glue and sawdust.

Wait! First we do away with benchwork and now we're not even securing the track? So avant garde... next it will simply be a box of conceptual layout

Joking aside its starting to look really good....  :D

that is true though....  you added bench work and subtracted permanent track adhesive.

now... I admit.. if you ballast it won't be an issue... assuming you secure the ballast with something.. and don't just dump it down the right-of-way and let gravity do the job.

come to think of it... you ARE modeling the prototype...  so that WOULD be the right way to do it.

Curious minds want to know your ballasting solution (grouting the main doesn't count)  :D

Already done! Every time I go I watch for suitable colors to be used in similar applications. In fact, I just stocked up on "black" fascia paint that way.

Lol. Yep! That's my goal... a layout you just think about while holding a locomotive. HAhahaha

Thanks!!
