Big day on the NC yesterday... While I was being a bum after a busy week of travel and activities, I got to spend some time in the basement.
And I did the following:
1. Painted all of the stuff I had spackled the week before. I went over to Lowes the other day and was looking at Valspar's paints. It turns out that buying samples is cheaper, ounce for ounce, than craft paints. Plus, you can get whatever color you want. The only downside is that they're satin instead of flat. I got a nice good "dirt" color called "Treetrunk".
2. Spackled what I hadn't before. I had run out of goop before finishing, so I finished that up.
3. Installed a tortoise! I was slightly concerned because, of course, the throw bar itself was directly above a frame member, but I was able to angle the wire, and used one of
@rodsup9000's awesome mounts, hot glued to the foam. I then used a SNAP to connect it to my decoder which still has a few open slots. I still need to wire up the frog, but it's nice to see it working, and to have all of CP WINDSOR STREET all working.
I'm thinking about maybe applying some more spackling and doing some more sanding to some of the rougher areas. Thoughts?
