Recommend a floor piece between legs help them stay square and protect them from being accidentally kicked/pushed in.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that too. I think I might make another trip over to Lowes to get the pieces for that. Maybe when I go for the foam to top it. Which will probably be this week.

BTW, watching your thread enviously.  With my father's house in Ellicott City finally on the market, a house of my own and, hopefully, a basement and some layout space is getting closer and closer.

Excellent!!!

Let me advocate the position of, don't get hung up on the "dream" layout, build what you think you can get going in a reasonable time frame (but keep an eye on areas of potential reuse and expansion).

Another suggestion would be angled braces (or even plywood gussets), rather than a piece between the legs on the floor.  You may also find that you don't need as many legs once the sections are screwed together.

A couple of things have happened recently.

Eric came over last night, and proved something key (by way of injury): the duckunder idea sucked.

So, I rebooted my thinking and have decided to take a different approach. I'm going to loop both ends back on themselves.

I'll be doing a simple balloon at the other end, using the other existing constructed benchwork (for now):

I'm glad to hear you scrapped the duckunder plan.  I also think it would have cut the room in half and shrunk its apparent size.  What happened to the plan you and DKS did a few years ago that would have run out and looped back in the space under the former shelf layout?  I liked that plan.

I realized I was going to have problems with the elevation changes, but the current idea is very similar.
