Maybe you can do a dead body and a police scene in the vacant lot. That would add some scenic interest.  :D

I'm thinking about doing something set up in the Reading Cluster (how can you not love http://conrailphotos.thecrhs.org/OnLocationWithConrail/HardCoalCountry ?), and the yards up there were quite different.
Would you be content with having MP15s as (almost) your sole choice of motive power?

MP15s, SW1500s, GP8s and U23Bs.

I think so. For a little while, anyway.

I mean, c'mon...

Funny to read this.  York came up incidentally in this article I read at lunch today (https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-12-21/the-south-will-rise-again-under-gop-tax-plan).  Forget the article, but this is the quote I laughed at and your comment really cemented a vision of York for me:

"York, which used to be a fairly awful place, economically speaking, has enjoyed an economic renaissance...."

Haha, I was just reading that article too. It makes some good points, but like most articles that approach tax policy from an economics standpoint, it forgets the irrationality of human beings.

How was the crime rate in December 1985 ?

If you were doing modern, you could have a couple crime scenes taped off  :D

One other thing I've forgotten to mention.
I'm working against a self imposed deadline. We're looking to move sometime this year, and I want the thing "article ready" by the time it has to come down.

And yep, @OldEastRR , that's exactly what I'm talking about. That's a beautiful facility but the timeline gives me chills.

That NCC plant is really big, tho. I doubt you'll have anything as big and complicated as that so the time spent doing a scratchbuild would be easier (Note: At least two of the structures in that photo are modified WS or Walthers kits.) One thing that helps on kits is to replace the stock windows with other ones from detail places of plastic or brass items. And here's a DPM building I "bent" the front around to face the side:

I visited the York Industrial History Museum today and drove around taking more backdrop photos.

I'm reinvigorated.

So... Paving began on Pershing Avenue when I got home.

Excellent !  1500/1504 will look great doing some street running.  Hopefully by mid January they'll be back in service  :D

Can't wait to see it in person, maybe have some steam tourist power slip through.

So would you mind sharing your experience with using that much DAS clay to pave with ?..Inquiring minds want to know!

Also your photo from WUD belongs here too!

I'm mostly curious because I'm really close to this step myself.
