@Ed Kapuscinski,

A couple of things:

(1) Do the IM SD40-2s have MT #1016s (or clones) as couplers?  The coupling distance looks big and could be reduced by replacing the couplers with #1015s, if that's the case.
(2) We have to talk about those bridge shoes.  I love 'em, but they're killing realism by floating in the air.  Is the bridge filled with helium?  ;)

Mind the gap! :facepalm:

But seriously, I see gaps under the loco, above the trucks, between the loco and first car looks like you could park a 44 tonner in there, and yes, now that he mentions it,in a gross violation of Eds law that bridge seems to be on the sky hook.....

But, OTOH, I love this scene and those locos will be stars of the show once we pressure you into fixing their flaws! :trollface: :tommann:

Don't worry. It's in the plans. Step 1 is the trucks though... see my SD35 thead.

@Ed Kapuscinski,

Just kidding about the bridge shoes.  I have no doubt you'll fix that when the time is right.  Besides, look at the situation that I put myself into this afternoon.  As part of the double-tracking project currently under way on my layout, I installed a bridge today.  Bridge shoes?  It doesn't even have abutments.  It's hanging by its rail joiners!  :scared:

Were real CR locos ever that clean and shiny?  :o Obviously the weathering is the last step in detailing, so I'm just kidding. when you do the vents and grills instead of paint use black chalk from artists supply . Using the chalk stick directly on the vents fills in all the screen openings, then brush off the excess and dust the vents with chalk scrapings. You may need to mask off the area around the vent unless you want soot on the panels, too. It gives that sooty look of real soot, in texture and color. But put the chalk on AFTER the dullcote.

Black acrylic paint wash into the grills always worked for me:

This weekend I said screw it and did more ground cover in York.

This area represents the grassy patch where the NCR "hangs a left" and heads down Pershing Avenue. If I were to do it over again, I'd have pushed it closer to the end of the layout since the Codorus Creek should be visible, but screw it.

I like it!

1) use a pic and try to model it (check)
2) do your best (check)
3) post on TRW and then prepare for feedback (check)
4) rip it up and do it again (in process)

I like it

:)

Seriously though

Extending the curve and dropping Schitz Creek (or whatever the name it’s) would be easy... after all, it’s only foam... and would give you another signature scene (you need more)... :trollface:

Enjoy

I think you need to add the creek.  It looks like you have 1" foam as subroadbed.  Cut it out and glue a piece underneath to lower and form the riverbed.  You'll thank me later.  ;)

Adding the creek will create some additional visual interest along with the two bridges.

hence...  another scene....

now.. Ed has to find a picture of the creek in the winter time in his exact year/era of modeling....

unless he says F it...

which is ok too...

but I am still voting for the creek :)

Guys, I'm very tempted to say F it because, well, this isn't supposed to be a signature scene. I don't really want people focusing on the 15" radius curve there. If I could've buried it in trees, I would've.

But if you add the creek, it would help explain why the railroad has such a hard curve. You don't even need to model the bridges, just have them "off scene" in the aisleway and have the creek on the right portion of the curve. It'll fit in enough that it should make the hard curve a little more believable and logical, and really help identify the scene at a glance as well
