Ed,

What will you be using to "pave" the road?  Although I used styrene on the Seaboard Central for roads, I'm not sure that I would want to cut all of those pieces for the amount of street trackage that you have.  However, paper templates and tracings can be your friend.

That said, if it were me, I'd consider using Woodland Scenics' Smooth-It.   I had success with that product for the roads on the Virginia Central.  According to @RockGp40's photos of the M3T, those roads are holding up more than ten years later.

Hope this helps,
DFF

And please, splurge on some black Styrene if that is the route you intend to go.
There will be no more frustration than cleaning your rails with a bright boy and rubbing paint off only to expose Lime Green plastic.

Power tools my man! My brand new Dewalt random orbital sander.

The only problem is the dust that gets kicked up.

Have the spousal unit follow along with the shopvac while you sand. Will make a lot less mess!

That big red container crane looking thing needs to be in your background shot.

I know, but... I'm not sure it was there in 85.

Ballast and dirt from Windsor St to Poorhouse Yard.

More ground cover is coming.
