Wow, the pole position.

I finished the CN Coach Cafe ...(insert Puddy does CN joke here)....

I'm generally pleased with the results..

and inside we detailed her some....

I "knit" together parts from 5 cars to get close to the interior, then painted and detailed it. The window blocking method Lou gave me is "da bomb" and I'm please with this car.....even if it's...."one of dem"..............
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Nice work Puddy- I want to try that resin trick of yours.  Notice my restraint for not mentioning your choice of roadname...

Having completed the build of my three MLW M-630s last week, this week I assembled and photographed them prior to their departure for the paint shop:

They will become BCR 708, PGE 710 and BCR 717.  Here are close-ups of PGE 710:

Following completion of these locomotives I spent some time cleaning up the workbench.  This week I also enjoyed a casual operating session at Mark's Columbia & Western, and I am looking forward to next week's inaugural op session at Gary's Tehachapi B.C.

Here's some pics I took of my recently deskirted Kato GS-4 today when testing it out on a friend's layout.  All the pipe work on the engineer's side is new, the air tanks on both sides are new, both air pumps and the feedwater heater on the fireman's side are new.  I also filled in the voids on the steam chests where the skirting used to overlap.  Still yet to add is the decals for the number board on the platform below the smokebox door, number boards around headlight and the builders plates.  I have some nice little decals of Lima builders plates I plan to use, I also have a few paint touch ups left to do, and that should complete it.

All in all, a fun build and I plan to make several more.  I have a list of things I would do a little differently to make assembly cleaner and such.  I have 8 more GS4's sitting on the shelf and I'm so pleased with the outcome, they might all loose their skirts!

I just got my copy of NSR and I have to say that the cover shot is outstanding!  Both the modeling and the composition.  All the other locos and cars on display here are top notch too.

I had a nice week: I moved my son to Nelson BC and got to finally spend a bit of time in that wonderful town.  On Thursday I participated in a laid-back session on Mark's C&W which included a stint working the Nelson yard and Sub.  Then Tim gave me a ride home in his '86 Jaguar.   8)  (Thanks Tim!)

I haven't posted to WU in a while because my only 'modeling' in the last several months has been infrastructure for the layout: bench work, track, wiring, and (finally) DCC.  But as Tim notes, the inaugural 'ops' session for Tehachapi BC is next Wednesday, so I have a busy weekend ahead attending to my punch list.  I use the term 'ops' quite loosely here since my goals are: 1) run some round-round on the upper level, with pushers and meets; 2) test the performance of the newly-installed DCC when a crowd is present (I'm curious to see if I can get away with 1-man crews running both lead and DPU units with dual-throttle DT402's); 3) test the ability of my layout room (garage) to accommodate 6 people comfortably.   We'll see if anyone wants to come back for session #2...

Tim...those units look great.

In addition to preparing for and hosting a small op session last night, I made progress on the Fife loader and troup Junction scenes.

Here is Fife...installed the tipple, put in the landform around it and began work on the trestle used convey limestone to the bins.

And here are the 7 small bridges (and 14 abbutments!) on the Troup junction scene...

Have a great weekend everyone, and see you Wednesday Gary!
