I may have missed this, but will the models have solid bearings like the artwork?

But the artwork shows Blomberg road trucks...this isn't correct for SW1500s, is it? The text indicates that they will come with AAR trucks so the artwork is a bit odd, unless I am missing something (which would be typical for me).

Best wishes, Dave

Heh, for anyone modeling the 7 seconds they were on CP

Which is still longer than the CP SW10's  :D

Still waiting for Atlas do the MP15 for SOO or MILW.

The MILW/SOO MP15s were MP15AC, our model is MP15DC - they are quite different visually.

And since I'm essentially done with a kitbashed MP15AC, it's about time one gets announced with my track record!

If
we remain silent, we risk that our favourite road gets passed by.  What then?  Sales don't live up to expectations and future runs that might have contained your quarry are cancelled.  Everyone loses.

In this case its MTL and not Atlas, so lesser and obscure roads probably need a little extra love to be considered.  An MP15AC bracketed by a MP15DC and a SW1500 would be a cool SP unique lashup for a 1980s era 'LA Hauler'.  Don't plan on asking for a MP15AC since my need is one or maybe two, not the three that is my cutoff for requests.  If I'm not buying three or more I tend to hope silently rather than making noise for a model.  Southern Pacific SW1500s are quite unique but purchase of three are in the cards if they meet my detail/DCC requirements.

Why get annoyed by the request/suggestions of others?  Can't really figure out why discussion (in a discussion forum) is being discouraged...

TiVo,
What annoys me - and others apparently - is NOT advocating for a certain road names or DCC, or even Flexi-coil trucks. It's people's seeming annoyance with MTL's lack of public commitment to THEIR road name or design feature - before the engineering is done and test product is in hand. If we really want these - and I do - then let's let them finish their designs and announce their plans BEFORE we ream them a new one.

They should finish designs BEFORE they announce the product.

By that logic, well north of 90% of new products we've seen announced since I joined shouldn't have been announced when they were.

Again, I'm NOT saying we should keep our preferences quiet. I am saying there is a line between advocating for what you want, and indicting MTL for not committing to YOUR preference at this stage of production.

I have to agree and I would offer Life-Like/Walthers for the poster child. From the announcements for the first split frame GP38-2's to the SW9, they made reference to DCC readiness that did not materialize in the final product. They are excellent engines, but from the glut on the market I would say they did not sell well. Besides, what is the purpose of announcing a product so early in the planning stages in the first place? I rather like Kato's game plan as of late, announce just prior to release. It seems to work well and doesn't create nearly the hostility and anxiety.

MTL is a small company with a small product line trying to generate buzz about something they intend to produce that will be a radical departure from their core business. Seems to me announcing this early is a good idea from that standpoint. And their unwillingness to commit to certain things now, like road names, also seems to be a lessons learned thing - especially if they followed what happened in your Lifelike example.

I'll save Tom the angst and just say I have no idea what you're referring to.

No one is asking for an order, a deposit or a life long purchase contract.  I am excited to have them announce it and think everyone should chill until the details are sorted out and finalized.  The forum as whole chased off it's best inside track for information.  I wonder if people here actually make their children wait until Christmas or their birthday to open presents or do you just plop it on the floor in front of them when you get it home from the store?!?!?! :D
