are there decals that could be put over the top of the poor printing?

I feel like this thread is going in circles...
Yep. We might have more fun with our new Parlour cars going in circles..... (i.e. around the layout) That's certainly in my plans this weekend.
If you're desperate to get one, someone just put one up for sale on the Yahoo NScaleyardSale group... for $75.00
There are a few on ebay for less, two at $69.95 and one at $47.Curious how many here want one that didn't get one.
Given that the Parlour cars only run from LA to Seattle on Amtrak, not Pennsy or Chessie in the NEC, probably not that many. Mine showed up yesterday. I can see where if you REALLY zoom in the striping could be an issue. Since i don't get that close, even with the camera, I'm OK with it. I think the decals would fix the problem if you were THAT worried about it. The underlying texture would be the same regardless if you repainted it yourself or just used teh existing Kato paint, at least looking at mine.
Why don't you just order one from the Amtrak site? They are still accepting orders. The guy on N Scale Yard Sale actually signed his name. Ha
However when I talked to the Amtrak folks this last weekend, they are not getting anymore for the website. The only ones left in Amtrak's inventory were on the anniversary train. And they were not selling any of these to the online orders from what I understood as they were not accounted for on the site. And from what I heard, they sold out Sunday afternoon.
So, the "More stock on the way; estimated to ship in 2-3 weeks - limited quantity available." statement on their website is not correct? I'm thinking that if few hundred of thses sold out in couple of days, it would make sense for them to commission Kato to run another batch. Unles their strategy is to keep the total volume low, so these cars become highly sought after collectible.
