The "other" industrial layout...

That feeling I know all too well. I'm in the latter half at the moment; what little I've accomplished lately has not exactly been done with scads of enthusiasm.

In the last photo right above the big building on the right a pipe burst. Everything H2O in my house was replaced with CPVC and this is the one area the pipe run right against the rim joist. Yesterday it was -13 degrees here and today it was 0 degrees. This is the area where the pipe runs to a hose outside, that small area is metal so it won't freeze. BUT the layout sits where a small shower stall was. I tore the stall out a while ago and just capped off the pipes that were mounted right to the rim.

Luckily the whole basement floor was tore up and all new drains installed with the floor sloped to a big center drain. There was even a smaller "shower" drain right under the leak. The pipe only cracked so water wasn't at full blast. All the water sprayed up into the one small joist cavity (and right down on to the layout) Other than the layout I probably only have $50 worth of damage. The basement isn't finished and most damage is just the bottom of a few boxes and maybe some light rust on my lathe that was next to the layout.


As for the layout I will see. The hardboard profile sides might end up being the only trouble areas...

You're almost now obligated to scenic it so it looks like it's right after a rain storm. Flooded cut and all!

Otherwise, glad it was just relatively minor damage sustained.

I didn't read any of the thread and thought, wow!!! Some one is modeling a Vancouver BC rainy scene; I always wondered who'd be the first.

Layout looks fine to me. Dry it off and carry on.

Yeah it might be OK. I just took all the building off and all the plastic roads (that were just sitting there) The layout is foam with cork sheet and a rim of 1x2's. Not much wood was laying on the layout.

Side note: Walther's kit boxes can hold water 

Once it dries up I will clean and see what's what.
