Heres an article about the BX-166 I would like the older Santa Fe scheme but wouldn't be in for the new one. http://www.trainlife.com/magazines/pages/287/21378/june-1999-page-52 Looks like a 1974 built date which would be cool.

Well that's a pretty interesting car!

Good thing I didn't offer to buy everyone a beer if I was wrong....  :)

1974 to the present day.  ATSF 621300-621599.

I'm in for one car in the original 1974 scheme.
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=atsf621330&o=atsf

Looks like I'll have to wait though.  First two schemes are modern.

Very nice (for me).  Any specific plans for a BNSF run?  How about a single-door BX-155 version?

Doubtful on the BX-155... definite on the BNSF.

Very excited about this announcement.   I knew it wouldn't take long to find photos of these cars in my collection.   First one I found was a "bingo"....ATSF 621493 being done by BLMA on the first run!

These things really seemed to get around. Looks like everywhere that Coors has crept into, at least.

Of course, that makes me wonder, in the mid 80s, wast that east coast Coors embargo still in effect (and why did we ever lift it...)?

I laughed when I saw the result coming out- it feels like another "pickle" car.  But judging by the enthusiasm here, even an obscure boxcar is a welcome addition for many.  Hard to complain with new tooling.

Here are a few BNSF's I've found...   NOTE:  I have not confirmed 100% that these are BX-166's, just relying on the accompanying data for now.  I'll try to check as I get time to find another source.

EDIT: According to Del Grosso's BNSF Railway Freight Cars - Volume 1, the BNSF (Re)Number Series for these cars is 780718-780975, so all of the numbers below are BX-166's.  Repaints to BNSF began with 12 in 1998, and increased to 55 by 2003.   During that same period, ATSF numbers went from 261 to 213.

1974 to the present day.  ATSF 621300-621599.

I'm in for one car in the original 1974 scheme.
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=atsf621330&o=atsf

Looks like I'll have to wait though.  First two schemes are modern.

My thoughts as well, would rather see an older scheme.  Although I'll probably be in for one of these anyway.

A bit disappointed, as Red Caboose has already done beer cars.  (I know, different car.)

In the very early 80's.   Shortly after I became of legal drinking age in 1980 if I remember.  Why did it get lifted?  I think the town Golden got tired of those of us east of the Mississippi leaving all our luggage there and filling up our trunks with Coors when vacationing there or nearby then heading east.

I can't buy that argument .. its like saying we only don't need any more 50' boxcars since someone already makes one :)

The initial schemes being offered are way too modern for me.  This is the scheme I'm waiting for, the as-built, which will be in the next round.  I can only use one, but it will be a nice model to have.
