For those of us who like to do business with BLW, I just heard back from Pete and he informed me that he is in the process of "working out the details" on these and will eventually be listing them on his website. Just FYI.

Cheers,

BLW has the pre-order page up.  But no ETA.

http://www.blwnscale.com/hornby-u25c.htm  Street price $127.95.  Not cheap.  Hopefully they're good quality.  But out of my Era(s).

I have my pre-order in with BLW for the NP models. The price is high, but they fit my era, and there are few other manufacturers willing to do NP. I hope they're worth the $35 premium for a DC loco, though.

Eight pages of discussion and not one link to some pre-production photo's!!
I can't get too excited over it without at-least a couple shots.  :)

There's no link to pre-production photos because no one has them yet. The Europeans don't generally post them.

Based on what they are producing in Europe do we have any reason to be concerned?

The only thing I have to go by is the old stuff. It had deep flanges Rapido couplers and was very noisy. Mind you this was early 80's stuff and I'm not familiar with any of their European stuff. That's why I would like to see some production photo's before any sort of pre-ordering with any of the online shops.

Let's just hope it runs like a Swiss watch, and not like a . . . well, um . . . Swiss car.    :D

Arnold Rapido (or whatever the current name is) appears to be a totally new company.   I think the only thing they have connecting them with the original is the molds (which they have been revamping).

I have several of their European prototype models and they are made in China, and the quality is just ok.  The locos are over-lubricated (which is normal for Chinese-made models).  The cars (Orient Express passenger cars) are pretty nice, but of Rivarossi heritage.  They have been revamped (several improvements have been made), but they still ride on deep-flanged wheels.  However, those were targeted for the European market, where deep flanges are still standard.

Arnold was first absorbed by Rivarossi, and Rivarossi was in turn absorbed by the Hornby group.

The U25C will be completely new. No connection to older Arnold loco's. It was announced last year at the NSE convention, so he is somehow involved in it. My guess is it will follow 'normal' US practice.

There were pre-production photos posted on the Arnold Facebook page in January of it at a show in Europe.  I thought they were discussed here, but I couldn't find it.
