With all the possibilities of road names, and if it`s DCC "friendly"  they might have a grand slam on their hands with this.
You`ll never find a Philly cheese steak on a menu in Philadelphia. It`s called a cheesesteak and we all know where it`s from...

It is a locomotive that interest me because of the source.  I hope they work out the option for DCC.
I also model B&O and in my world they can own one of these.
Even though I model steam.  I have room for time warps.

Well,
Railroad Picture Archives only has 15,000 photos across 18 pages of the SW1500.

Maybe MT will have a few things to choose from!   :P

You want info on this loco, get the Diesel Era book.  Now on sale also.  Got it a month ago and covers every body style and original owners plus ones resold to others at the time of the printing.

Please, let's not pick at that scab any more, especially as this is the N scale announcement. Thanks.

I was completely unaware of a MTL Z scale announcement and the results.  I feel that I am better informed based on reading this...

BTW - I'm sure I have some customers that will very much appreciate this announcement but it doesn't do much for me. B&O didn't have any, and even if they did, it would be too modern for me. My other option for them would be I&O and I just don't see that happening.

Tony, I would go for the I&O's in a heartbeat.

Ya, but what can you really infer.  In general how many companies have bumped N scale offerings in favor of HO items with all the production challenges???  Quite a few.  I feel it fair to say the same can apply with Z scale getting bumped by N.

Not to carry this on, but I think we've been pretty good about z announcements...but stuff happens.  We are still in it with two all new Mechanical reefers due before the end of summer...and more on the way.   The E8 stuttered because we lost the factory in china and the cost to get that line going again has been considerable...the z switcher is still in development, we need a smaller motor and we can't just flick on a laser and change scales.  I think the person who first broached this should understand as well as anyone, moving towards N scale because the Z market slowed a few years ago.  No big revelation here and a reasoned move.  Business is business though...we need to keep the doors open and sometimes the adults in the building have to make hard choices I may not, in my z heart not want to hear, but understand.

It's a beautiful day here in Oregon, I plan on soaking up as much of the sun as possible before the clouds move in.  Enjoy your day and get that project done!

It appears that MT is accepting pre-orders for the SW1500 through July... I hope the DCC-thing gets sorted soon.

If I may offer a suggestion to the DCC frenzy...

Joe, please give serious thought to using a decoder like the DZ125IN. 6 pin, very small and very easy to do a conversion on. Fox Valley uses them and I think this is the best way to go for a non-sound DCC install. It would also mean no board swapping on a small loco. Just unplug the jumper and plug in the decoder. Why more of the manufactures *don't* do this is still makes me scratch my head.

At least my Happy Birthday and Smokey da Bear locos will be easier to convert..

Speaking of paint schemes...would love to see this done. Not that outrageous because these worked, still do I think, in MTL country (sort of).
