MTL Announces an SW1500 for delivery in Spring 2014

Of course, I bought a few Atlas MP15DC as stand ins, thereby guaranteeing someone would do the real SW1500 we need.  Well, those can be a few of the lease units IHB employed.

I think Atlas did pretty well with their IHB geeps, and now we know we have TWO dedicated IHB modelers in N.  Certainly, that justifies the decision to to the IHB........

Around 25 years ago, one of the first (if not THE first) DCC *equipped* n-scale locomotives was the Arnold S-2.  It's been at least 5 years since Atlas and Kato had drop-in DCC capability in similarly sized switchers.

There are some on here who might strongly disagree. But, N scale is at the point where you have to get at least where a Plug N Play decoder will go in it. If not, it will have a negative impact on sales. That is from a dealer's point of view and that's a plain fact.

As much as I've wanted these for YEARS. No DCC plug n play capability, and I'm not gettin them. They'd be as useful as a paper weight to me if that were the case.

IT wasn't necessarily DCC equipped, but it was the first DCC friendly loco made in N scale, that could accomodate an actually drop in decoder without a bunch of rewiring. Strangely enough, the other locomotive that claims to be the first DCC-ready locomotive in N scale was the old Baldwin RF-16 sharknose made by E-R Models.

I will do whatever it takes to get a decoder in there.  It can't be any harder than a LL SW1200- and that was fairly easy.
