3-Bay, ribbed sides.

The 3-bay version was a later design, the PS-3 were originally 2-bay. They were 34' 60 ton cars and NH had 250 of them, class HM.

That drawing is a 50 ton car.

Around '61 the PS-3 was a 70 ton 3-bay, and by '64 it was 100 ton.

I just received an email newsletter today, listing them with multiple road names, but the photos, which look fantastic, look to me like HO models (although not identified as such).
I'd like to hear from someone who's seen the al thing....

The show isn't over yet...that's all I can say.  And I hope no one says they can't understand why you are excited about some release in the future...Not every one is as dialed into the (bushism) Internets as we are, so this is new and exciting for them

Um, did everyone else miss something or am I thinking of another car?  Didn't we already know about the log car since last year?  Not only it was all over the Interwebs (and trains shows, such as the one in Springfield), I even seen printed ads in the modeling magazines.  You guys act like this was a new and exciting news...

Joe is right - and don't forget there are a number of models ANNOUNCED which we haven't even see samples of yet!

Around '61 the PS-3 was a 70 ton 3-bay, and by '64 it was 100 ton.

Bussey said 3 bay ribbed side which would make a 70 ton car. They call it 40' as a generalization would be my guess. According to my '61 CBC, it should they length over the outside sills 42 feet 10 and a half inches. So I guess that's why they called it a 40 footer. No C&O's on this so not such a big announcement on my wallet.

I have to assume the TB post was someone who heard 'PS-3' and maybe didn't know that could be several different hoppers.

100 ton cars were 3-bay as well, but clearly longer than 40' no matter where you're measuring from.

The new Atlas model, as Bryan has stated, is a 3 bay PS3.  There are 2 versions, a 2750 cubic foot car and a 2960 cubic foot car.  Both versions will also be available with heap shields.  I have posted cell phone photos to our Facebook page.

Or maybe think more in terms of road numbers.  Should easily get few hundred road numbers out of L&N (and any mergers) alone.
