Testors reaction to grumbling MRR's

Testors is moving the most popular Polly Scale colors into their Model Master acrylic lines. So far there are 16 colors being ported over with possibly more later. Unfortunately, they will not be the Polly Scale formula but MM formula, color matched to the previous Polly Scale colors.

I still feel the Model Master paints are not as good as the Polly Scale formula, but at least these are structure and scenery colors that I am less critical about.

Better than nothing I suppose.  I'm holding out hope that the PS and Floquil lines will be sold if they haven't been already.

Those are the colors I'd miss most. It's good to hear they are being ported to the MM line. MM paint isn't terrible, I don't like it as well as PollyScale, but it's not terrible. Now if that national chain craft store starts stocking these colors that would be the real win so I don't have to mail order every time I need a little more.

This was sort of hinted at earlier, and not that I have any reason to not believe you, but what's the source of this news?

The MM Acryl metals are crap, but the traditional solvents are pretty nice. They are a little more metal flaky though. The Metalizer spray cans are superb.

I can live with those colors. I mostly do structures and scenery, anyway.

interesting.  One wonders if it waas the plan all along - though if Chulvis is right, and they intend to sell the lines, I'd think they would want to sell these formulations too since they have to be the most popular.

Any buyer would lose significant interest if Testors was out there releasing the same colors in a competing line and offering them up as 'alternatives'.

Only reason why those colors are being done is that they are popular with model plane and ships builders. I use some of those for weathering, ect.

I could live with that, at least for brush work.   But why, why, why would they want to keep it such a secret?

I've participated gladly in a live fire exercise against the whole company...to either announce what colors are coming over to other lines or get out of it and bail entirely.   There's certainly no mention of this over on the facebook page, and there are current responses to non-defamation posts, so whoever is over there manning the store is still there, just silent on the topic.

I've never airbrushed MM so I have no idea how well that works, or doesn't, but I've been using a lot of it for brushed-on details and structures.  The metallics - stainless steel, aluminum, chrome, etc. are actually pretty good.   I didn't think that was an acrylic base, maybe it is but I don't think so.

There are both Model Master (which is enamel base) and Model Master Acryl (which is acrylic base).

Well that's all I need for the UP , it's water , so that's like a cornucopia filled with plastic fruit .
