@Rich_S,Who says that you have to pick one road to model? The beauty of a small layout is that it can be built with a generic theme and then you can put 1950s rolling stock on it this week, 1960s on it next week, and so on. Or, you could run N&W this month, Conrail next month, and so on. Because the layout is small, you can have a couple of small fleets to change out from time to time without breaking the bank. It also keeps the layout more interesting, rather than just the same-old, same-old.DFF
Well, depending on the year, P&WV, W&LE (old AND new), NW, SOU, MTR, WM, and NS are all prototypical, plus possibly NKP and URR. And I would not be surprised if PRR, PC, and CR locomotives wandered onto P&WV rails at some point. So I wouldn't sweat the roadnames!!!
