One sector of the economy that is still thriving.   :P

What's that? Increased customer intimacy?

I'm still not sure what "increased customer intimacy" is. I was thinking the paint will now come in a new jewel case a'la merchandising innovations.

Being a marketing geek myself, I cringed when I read that last statement out of Testor's.   What a line of meaningless BS.

Buzzword Bingo!

And if they find any increased intimacy with this customer, it will be distinctly non-consensual.

Didn't you hear? Replacing Floquil, Testors is introducing a new line of personal lubricants with various railroad scents.   Ones like Diesel Oil, Smoke&Steam, BunkerC, Creosote, etc. :D

That's a polite way to put it, I suppose...

Actually, I was wondering if Testor's marketing department has been sniffing the glue.

Peteski:  Scented lubricants might actually be practical.  They could also have a side benefit.  When one can no longer smell the lubricant, it's time to relube.  For unsealed gears and bearings this might be sellable.

Um, didn't you notice the smiley?  Also the fact that I mentioned personal, not gear and bearing lubricants?

I missed the "personal", but noticed the smiley.  On the other hand, quite a few ideas through history started as humor, but ended up being produced and selling well, either in their original form, or as inspiration for another version.

With the "personal", I assume you were referring to the "intimacy" comments earlier.  No, I don't want to get "intimate" with a corporation either...

I was thinking more along the lines of "body paints"! :D

Guess what.  You're right.  Well, right enough:

I found the personal care side. They are making paint markers for hair touchup under a new brand name. Seriously. A new way to tap the graying of America. Looks just like our hobby paint markers, could be made on the same production line.

I'm telling you, you just can't make this stuff up: http://www.rrstar.com/businessrockford/x1273025215/ColorMetrics-hair-touch-up-product-gets-2nd-run

Yep, here's where the company focus is going: http://colormetrics.com/

Notice how CAREFULLY they hide their identity on that web page. If it hadn't been in the Rockford paper it would have been totally underground. You can't find anything to link the two otherwise. The company has a Santa Fe, NM address on the LLC and a facebook page with no traceability.

I'd never thought of painting my gray hairs with Floquil or Pollyscale...hmmm....

I doubt if that's their core focus... More like they have all the permits and equipment to make those kinds of products and and sell some time on their manufacturing floor to outside companies to generate some revenue. Lots of manufacturing facilities do this. Pretty sure rebranding CreateFX is their focus and hail mary to try and stay relevant and gain some traction in the arts and crafts stores.
