Jason, I think you should go back and redo the paint.  These were dirty engines, but I really think the heavy weathering detracts from how gorgeous the underlying model is.

Believe me I like the look of freshly shopped.  But many people have factory fresh T1s.  How many people weather them?  O-well, the next one I build will have the fresh paint on it.  Here is a prototype picture-

Is that area in front of the cylinders and above the front pony wheel open on the proto? It could use some sort of view block.

For a western guy you seem to be building a eastern fleet

Hey Jason, nice job!

If you want to put something in that airspace above the front pilot wheel, there was a cross-compound compressor hanging down in there on the left side, and the engine bell on the right side.   Those can sit up above the pilot wheels, so they won't interfere with the truck swing. 

I enjoy seeing this in a very special and personal way, sir.  Quite honestly, I never thought I'd see another nut crazy enough to home-build a T1.   I am so glad you persevered with a drive mechanism and really made it work.  And btw, congratulations are also in order to Hans and Marc Starmans for that tender drive!

I did forget about the air pumps, here they are and they look a lot better.  So, the engine is a work in progress.... I also, obviously, went back and added pin stripping.....NO they are still not perfect but I will do more work on them when they are set and dry.

Great work! Looks like a great runner, too! What decals did you use for the tender? Were they gold leaf or buff?
I can't tell for sure, but I think they all met the scrapper torch with gold leaf.

Gold leaf.  I used the passenger car strips.  60-1141

The compressor in the front is a nice improvement.  It really closes up that open space.
It really is there on the prototype.

While you're tinkering, a small red PRR keystone herald should be on the tender side, right in the middle, above the word
"Pennsylvania".   I think I used one off one of the Microscale PRR diesel sheets.

Yes the Keystone is one of the things I am missing...

Well here is the engine with more detailing and paint work.  I like it now and I think I will rest easy tonight.

I sprayed the engine with Floquil grimy black then Floquil Brunswick Green.  The decals are micro scale Pennsy Heavyweight  cars #60-1141 along with steam decal sheet 60-1166. 

For the thick upper tender stripe I used two thin stripes and filled the gap between the with Floquil gold paint.  To do it again I would order the HO scale passenger car decals and use one of those for the thick upper stripe

Jason is building engines so quickly that it looks like he ran out of room at the roundhouse and has started storing them on the roof 

As great as they look in the videos, it is even more impressive to see them run in person.  The detail is incredible.  I had the pleasure of meeting Jason and his engines at the N Scale convention in Milwuakee last summer.

Now that you've done West Coast and East Coast how about some Milwaukee Road for the Midwest?
