Spent both weekend days down in the man cave. Surprisingly little to show for it though. Detail works takes time I guess. I should be working on something with a bigger return on investment, like laying mainline tracks to summit, or wiring up the mill sidings, but no. Still detailing away.

The newest air particle filter, hot from  the painter and Shapeways. Having railings printer saves time over etched grass, bug the GMM ones on the top of the exhaust bracing tower look better.

The long staircase is an Alkem piece. I think it needs bracing underneath to look prototypical though.

Finished adding railings, stairs and walkways to the pollution control tower left side. Had to hack a walkway up, and solder with parts in place on the building. No meltdowns.

Railings added to the exhaust stack tower frame. Lost a safety gaged ladder when I dropped the subassembly on the floor. Rolled over the GMM part when  I went to look for it. This area needs a few lights, which I plan to add with LEDs.

Took a weekend off because the stomach was running in rewind and fast forward almost at the same time, but did manage to recover enough to make progress tonight.

First up,  piping. I test fit the pipe bridge over the main and sidings that will connect the old coal power plant with the new recovery boiler. This basically splits the mill into 2 sections, each 1/3 of the total length. It weaves through some complicated trackage like it was planned that way, but the rulebook will have a requirement that switching crews clear the bridge before uncouplings or throwing turnouts. The bridge will be removable for maintenance and track cleaning.  This shot is from the "raw materials portion of the mill looking towards the warehouse and that annoying sliding door. That thing alone is enough reason to Belinda drop the end of this peninsula.  Note too, the test of a smaller white pipe bridge over in chemical receiving on the right. More clearance needed, but this was just a length test.

The multiple track heights made made a clearance test a must. 4 different levels are in the mill complex, and shown here. Mainlines, passing siding, industrial lead, and spur. I must love sanding cork. A closer view shows them all.

And there is always some greenery in a mill. This was a static grass application test. I also tested my RR Xing stencil, which worked. The handicapped parking space stencil did not, so ADA be damned mill management has said for now.

There will be, thanks to Shapeways! Even I ought to be able to draw a handicapped ramp with railing in 3D. The grass is easy to remove.

That complex is coming on a treat. I am looking forward to when it is completed with all the ballast and ground cover in place.

Today's tank war was to make these bracing thingis to top the pulp tanks.



Amazingly enough, Green Max piping and bracing from kit 37-3 fit with little modification. All that's left is to make 3 more and paint. Final piping installation wil wait on final placement in the complex.
