I picked one up at my LHS.  It is nice looking, but based on the diagram in the box, it's definitely not DCC ready.  It looks like the old split frame from the previous run.
I haven't actually opened it so I may be surprised, but I greatly doubt it.  I can't get to it until the weekend, so I'm sure someone else will be able to give an update.

I love the FAs.  I've got a bunch of the 1s in NH and LNE, some undecs waiting to be painted, and one FB2 booster.  I've never had a problem with them.

Out of curiosity, anyone know if there's one prototype for the LL/Walthers DL109 or is it a mixed breed like it seems?

I've already had one opened up. No change to the chassis in terms of DCC.

Does that suprise you from the company that advertised a "jewel case"? It doesn't suprise me...

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

Got my New Haven "new image" unit today.  The masking is crisp, and the printing is as opaque as the paint.  Quickie cellphone pic:

One interesting observation:  MTL couplers in the back, LL couplers up front.

Any plans to modify this unit?

Just got mine out of the mail and onto the layout.  Pulling a RI baggage, CBQ Jeep, RPO, smooth side coach, coach & observation.  I have RI sleeper on the way, hopefully arrives Monday.  My rendition of the Zephyr Rocket.  I may throw in the random heavyweight sleeper or parlor car just for fun.

Well, I'm wishing they had done the NH Brooks Brothers scheme rather than  the Black-Orange-White.  If they had I'd have bought a pair.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Other than changing the front coupler, nope.

What are you going to use for the replacement?

Bummer.  I'm finding it somewhat fascinating that this model gets a complete pass across the board no matter how far off it is.  Even the RI paint is wrong.

I will say those NH units look pretty good with the roof cleaned up, and the chicken wire over the new vents look better than the stainless grill the RI used.  I've got one from the first run I was setting aside for the RI, but a modified NH in the Cranberry would be a pretty sweet model.

MTL #1016.  The model really needs a coupler shaft longer than the #1015 and shorter than the #1016.  But the #1016 is fine.

As mentioned up-thread, NH had the units a long time, and they underwent some changes along the way.  Both the Con-Cor model and the Life-Like/Walthers model are closest to the New Haven prototype more than any other, so there is no reason for me as a New Haven modeler to modify them.

The Cranberry scheme on the LL model would be nice.  I have a Con-Cor unit painted in that scheme.  But the scheme was seasonal and didn't last for more than a handful of years early in the life of the unit.  And, you really need for Rapido to release its Pullman-Bradley coach before you can truly model the Cranberry consist.

Does not compute.
