Great video.  To answer your original question.  No you did not need a cabin car for every locomotive.  They were moving between terminals just like they would light engine moves.  Traffic had a tendency to move more in one direction so they came back in bunches to even things out.

That video is just awesome

Happy I`m only 18 and hopefully by the time I`m 40 RTR N scale PRR steam will exist just so much awesomeness in that video!

What about at 1:57 the PRR gon with Nash containers? What type of gon is that? Looks kind of modern.
