Intermountain F unit lightbulb?

Has anyone ever replaced one of these and if so what bulb did you use?  As I understand it from the Spookshow website it is soldered on to the pc board so it should be a simple soldering job.  I am just wondering what kind and where you got yours from.

I can't help you at this time with the correct bulb, but I will add that it is a simple solder job.  In fact, if you decoderize your F units (at least with Digitrax decoders), you are required to transfer the bulb from the factory PC board to the decoder.  I've done several, and it's not difficult.

Whats the motive behind switching to a bulb? Personally I'd opt for the LED to keep the heat down inside the shell (yeah I know we've used bulbs for 20+ some years...but err on the side of safe I guess).

I am looking to replace one that has burnt out.  I agree I like LED's personally, but I haven't swapped out anything like this in a long time and hoping to benefit from someone else's hard work and research and can simply go to the source and buy one.

If you contact IM they will send you either an LED or a replacement board. I obliterated an LED when transferring it to the Digitrax board, they sent two replacements without charge.
