Small japanese themed layout for shows

Mig and Vallejo are very similar.

Both products do the same!

Looks like i'm sold. It'll give me a chance to pick up more polyscale as well.

After being looking at the layout, I thought on making some changes. It needs some more houses.

This is the first try. But I was short in houses...

 
Last Saturday night, I have been at a friend's house while the wife went to a concert with her friends. This is the first aproach.

I have one of the Kato kits that builds two Japanese houses interestingly enough, they are glue-less kits that can be built and unbuilt with only two screws.

Thanks for the offer, but I have no time for new buildings. But I'll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, I made a torii gate for my layout. This is the first time that I have built such a think, all made of styrene. I think that if I made it with wood, it would be easier, but... no time no time!



A torii gate is a gate between the profane and sacred world.

Hi all. Two weeks to the show. I must hurry up. The kayout must be done on the 14th, because the show will happen on the 15th and 16th June.

Afetr seeing a lot of videos and photos, I found out that Japanese build their house on a concrete foundations. Isn't this how you folks build you house too? I think I can remeber something about this, beacause here, on one of the portuguese TV channels, they used to show the "Extreme makeover - Home edition", and this is some what familiar...

Wow!  What a difference some foliage makes.  Looking great.

I do have one suggestion, though.  How about toning down the blue of your water effect?  Water is not really blue and only appears that way when reflecting a blue sky.  Then, hit it with some gloss medium and you're done.

Dave, I can't understand why, but even master Japanese modelers tend to have a very bright blueish greenish water, on river or ponds.

Check this out from from a modeler called Tanaka Ace.



See how that river water is?

Has this is my first attempt on this kind of scenery, I want to do the same kind of approach. How ever, thank you for suggestion.

This is quite true. Almost every Japanese layout I've seen has brilliant blue or blue-green water. They also seem to prefer screaming bright green vegetation. Must be some kind of cultural tradition or something...
