    • Trying to model the BCR Fort St John BC (again)...while living in Australia (what could possibly go wrong?)

I LOVE how clean all of this is. This is where I'm hoping to go. I'll be watching your build. Question though, what HCDoor's are that thin?

I am using the plain Masonite brand bi-fold closet doors from Home Depot.   I remove the hinges to get 2 x 18" wide shelves out of a 36" door or 2 x 12" shelves from a 24" door.   They are easy to cut up so I make curved corner fillets and all manner of other shapes out of them.  The helix support platform is from HCDs too.

Surprisingly good progress on the double-decking this weekend.   Cutting up and mounting hollow core doors on shelf brackets makes things go really fast.

Yikes! How the hell do you keep it so clean and under construction at the same time?

Did some work on a large corner background building

Hi Chris,

The street that goes off into the distance: is that a photograph? It looks more like a stylized picture/drawing. Can you tell me what you did as it looks excellent and I have about 4 spots where I need to do similar.

About two weeks ago we had a thread on the RMM Loadstar CO:
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=29172.15

I had said I found one in my junk box and decided to see what I can do with it.

1. The cab was disassembled. The floor and windows discarded.
2. The frame was removed and discarded.
3. The headlights were opened up. I plan on using pins to simulate headlights.
4. The top half of the cab was sawed off just below the belt line. This area was sanded down to reduce the belt line height.
5. The side windows were reduced in size with strip styrene to match photos.
6. New fenders were added to match the look of the prototype.
7. The "roof stamping" was inverted by adding .01" rod styrene into the channels.
8. The same .01" rod was used to make a drip rail along the cab roof.

I still need to widen the door steps and bumper to match the fenders, sink  or replace the grill so it does not protrude from the front wall, putty and sand the fenders to blend everything and add the cab to a modified Athearn Ford C chassis.

Daniel:  It looks a lot better, but also sounds like a lot of work.  Have you given any thought to casting copies?

I may, but not this one. This is only a proof on concept right now. As I find more photos, I find other things I need to tweak. Some photos show that the roof does have channels rather then ribbs

This may be an international version that differed slightly from the American one? Who knows, now I have to digg those channels out again or just ignore them.

Today I replaced my fancy cardboard mock-ups with this:

The windows and roof are paper prints. Lots of 3D stuff to add. Real thing:

 8) I like the large Mill buildings. What did you use to make them?

Hey, yeah! I need to do that, too! How did you lower it, Bryan?

It is a core of 1/4" basswood sheets. Then corrugated styrene sheet over that. The back and left sides are completely open since I could never see them.
