Got a couple of locomotives painted midweek.

Kato E-8 for a friend.

Atlas MP15 for myself.  Weathering here is done with mostly oil paints.

Thanks for the compliments; something that has meaning from  :ashat: s.  Behind the D&H RS2 is an old Roco WAG single sheathed boxcar.  Wish Atlas would come out with one of those.

Put a few more weeds into an area that isn't in the way.

For the SPFs, a Trainmaster shoving a load of empties up the cut to the mine.  (Have to straighten out that tall tree on the left.)

Moving forward on the M-630s - literally.  Additions to the front half include housings for the headlight and aux lights, brake wheel, BLMA safety lights under the frame below the cab, and inertial filter covers:

Next up:  27 door handles and 18 lift rings . . . . per unit.

My CP passenger trucks arrived last week, which meant I could finish off my tool wash car BCOL 6506 in preparation for painting.  Here are the Panamint Models GSC Type 1b trucks with leaf springs, with Fox Valley Models 36" wheels installed:

Here is the underside of BCOL 6506 with couplers and trucks installed:

And here is the car upright and on its trucks and wheels:

Next up is a primer and gloss coat so I can add some Archer rivet decals on the ends.

I also acquired three sets of Type 2 trucks with dampening struts for my three British Columbia Provincial Museum coaches.  The outer sets are Type 2a; the inner set is Type 2b:

Here are the coach underframes with trucks installed - the 'A' end bolster hole is slightly offset to provide clearance for the vestibule steps:

And here are the coaches upright and on their trucks:

Tomorrow I am off to the Nanaimo Train Show on Vancouver Island with fellow RW member Greg Kennelly and RW lurker David Morgan.   :D

Dusted off my airbrush and weathered a SF GP30. New shortline power about to be placed in service.

Antenna stands and BLMA RV AC units are next.

Hornwrecker:  Why straighten the tree, unless it's supposed to represent a particular prototype tree?  I've seen trees growing in almost every direction imaginable in the east Kentucky and West Virginia hills.

I am un-building my layout.  :(

I have packed about 1/3 of the structures and removed all non-B&O rolling stock from the layout.   It is a bit tedious, putting each car back into its assigned jewel case.  Seem to be more boxcars than jewel cases.  ;)

Chris, that 'perfect photo' test down the street between the buildings, that one looks good.  That's a keeper.

Chris,
Now that is an appropriately sized industry! Love it. How many Walters kits is that, and is the back side sheet plastic or kit?

I'll repost this here, apparently it went in the wrote thread this morning!

Nice work this week.  Tim, those BCR locomotives are looking very good!

More work on the Cisco bridge but nothing worth a photograph.  I'm in the stage where it is fine details like diagonal bracing and gussets, so you spend four hours cutting and gluing, but not much seems to change.  I'm nearly ready to start installing the beam cross bracing as the final part of the structure, and then work shifts to the rail deck for the ties, railings and hanging walkways.  Derailments over the years have resulted in some substantial changes to the deck details, so I am trying to finalize some key features for the modern era.

For fun, I totaled my parts investment and was shocked to realize I have spent almost $300 so far.  A third of that is from brass walkways, but strip styrene really adds up!  Given how much time I have spent on the project, the $5000 for the Overland brass version is looking like good value.

I only bought one kit, but I had pieces left over from many years ago. Here you can see the different walls pieced together:

And sorry to dissapoint, but the back is bare:

Also got to install a NZT 4-4-0 detail kit. Comes with window glass, a back wall for the cab, and wheel spokes!
