Atlas B23-7 Rocket Sled?

Picked up a used Atlas SP B23-7 (#5112) and was surprised that it does not have a slow motor or a bright LED. It's actually faster than my old, fast-motor Atlas stuff. Wondering if the guts were swapped-out with something else or if came this way. Anyone know if this came out before the newer motors and LED's? I already checked the N Scale Encyclopedia and it wasn't clear, although it seems to indicate it should have a slow motor and bright LED.

Did you have to blow the dust off the box when you picked it up? :scared: That's from the original run of B23-7s, before slow motors and LEDs. Any run of B23/30-7s after 2005 would have the updated mechanisms.

I have four of the speedy ones. They are pretty fast, to say the least.

Well, three now, one is floating in space with a pinewood derby car  :D

I have one of the slower mechanisms, but I dunno if the shell would swap.  :scared:

You should be able to swap the motors.  I have successfully done that on some Atlas SD50s.  In fact, I plan on doing this again.  The SD50s I had I later sold.  I since replaced them , and I need to do the motor swap again.

The motor was the only thing that changed, so the shell will fit...
