ACI labels aren't hard to come by. During grain season, some of the rust bucket leased grain hoppers still show them off "proudly."  :D

I'd have to go by the scheme visible on the car... reporting marks aren't a good indicator of age (unless it's still got an ampersand).  For example... BO, CO, LN, SBD are all still viable CSX marks

I saw this a few days ago. All it's markings are still there, albeit covered in a layer of rust.

if you can't conduct yourself, conduct freight

Yes, there's still a few of those kicking around.

I saw this today, have never seen one of these cars before.

Here's what that car would have looked like brand new:

I've never seen that FirstMiss, Inc. covered hopper before, either.

A few days ago I spotted two Norfolk & Western covered hoppers at the old Chrysler yard on the Northeast Corridor in Newark, Delaware.  One was hard to see behind some tank cars, but the letters Norfolk & Western were spelled out.  I could see the "hamburger" logo on the other one.  Sorry that I didn't have my camera.

I caught a couple more Norfolk & Western covered hoppers today.  They were being used as spacer cars for a Norfolk Southern tank train en route to the refinery in Delaware City, Delaware:

NW reporting marks:

N&W reporting marks.  This thing hasn't seen a paint shop in more than three decades!  There might even be a hamburger logo hidden in the rust in the last panel at left:

By the way, carrying on with the "seniors" theme, the tank train was pulled by a matched pair of SD40-2s.  Sweet.
