It is amazing to see the oil from the Arizona rising to the surface after all these years. It always gives me the chills to see that.

Making a few test trees using various materials and grades of them.  Going for an early spring look.



The dead leave trees are some types of oak which hold onto their leaves until budding.  Still need to find something to make an eastern redbud with; pink or purple ground foam I have don't look right, need some magenta foam.  Who the hell makes that?

The only thing train related this week was 1:1 scale.
My Dad & I rode the Texas Eagle from Springfield, IL to Ft. Worth to pick up a semi tractor.
It was my first trip on Amtrak and I will definately ride again. The staff was great and I got some close-up railfanning in as well.

DAY Tower in Enola Yard, July 1956...  An L1s leads a transfer freight toward Rockville Bridge and Harrisburg Yard while a coal train has just arrived destined for Philly via the Shocks Mills Bridge and the Atglen & Susquehanna Low Grade line.

I watched two documentaries on Pearl Harbor just last night.  One of them gave a great perspective on the whole harbor, so I think I know exactly where Michael's picture was taken.

The only known video of the U.S.S Arizona's final moments has been digitized and is now in high definition.  Terrifying what the new details now reveal during the explosion, including the entirety of the forward superstructure of the ship lifting twenty or thirty feet into the air when the bomb exploded in the magazine deep in the ship, the blast wave seen in the burning fires and smoke on the adjacent ship, the U.S.S. Vestal, and even tidal waves crashing into Ford Island as a result of the explosion.  I must see this memorial in person one day.  God bless our military, including those who are active, retired, or who gave their lives for our freedom.  Thank you.

Outfit power car PGE 990281 is now resplendent in MOW colours and ready for decals:

My model of Tool Wash Car BCOL 6506 received some final details including roof vents and smoke jacks (using field measurements provided by fellow RW member Chris Dittmar), end personnel doors, corner sill steps, and interior weights:






For the companion Cook Diner Car BCOL 6508 I built and inserted the large and small louvred vents on the one side, and added the rectangular window frames to both sides using field measurements provided by fellow RW member Doug Davies:






The Tool Wash Car is now complete except for the correct trucks which will arrive tomorrow, and the next step with the Cook Diner car is to open up all the windows.

Well my weekend is already half over thanks to the wonders of GMT+12 I have spent the last two days bent over my latest module carving rocks from plaster.



I'm making a scene loosely based on the Thompson River Canyon, but double tracked.

As of this evening I'm down one bag of plaster, but have this to show for my efforts:
