I'm down to having 31 assorted Intermountain kits to assemble, not counting the 48 almost-done tank car kits. I'll try to finish 4 box cars this weekend, not that it matters in the great scheme of things. After these 79 are done, no more, ever again. I'm getting too old for it.  :ashat:

Hmm... you lie, Kiz...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Got my helix installed, so I can run longer trains to test out the Boswer Z-scale couplers.   HEre is a video:

That's some pretty FUBAR trackwork there, Richie.

I shot a video of my upper level with my camera car.  There are some obvious issues to work out, but this is a starting point.

I've never tried affixing ballast with thumbtacks, but whatever works for you...

Why is it the any pics posted after MC kind of look sorry (speaking for myself).Oh well guess I'll do it anyway.

First up is the under construction building I posted last weekend.Except for a few details it is done.

Second up is the new factory going up across the street from the one above.Long ways to go on this one yet but at least it is started.

I've always heard one is supposed to AVOID reverse curves, not CREATE them.

On the other hand, I think I can see the reason for it.  Using the wye shortens the gap in the third rail.  It's possible that whatever equipment runs there is too short to bridge the gap needed for a conventional turnout and straight track.

This week I completed a seventh slab side hopper:

Fellow Railwire member Chris Dittmar was able to get the locating measurements for the roof vents on my Tool Wash Car today, which enabled me to install the roof vents and smoke jacks on my model:

For the companion Cook Diner Car, I was able to get the ends built and the assembled sides cut and dressed to final size.  The tapered Pullman ends were a challenge.  I also removed the vents from the Con-Cor roof and the window glass where the open vestibule will be.  The photograph below illustrates the component parts for the carbody including underframe, sides, ends and roof:

During this holiday weekend I hope to get the sill steps and couplers installed on the Tool Wash Car, and the window frames installed on the sides for the Cook Diner Car.

Hi Tim,
Looking good. It would be nice if I could get a reply to another email sent. I have just sent another. If that does not work I will leave it be and he can keep his sales in Canada.

May 2013 MR arrived and readers may note I already was motivated by the body mounted coupler article.
The cover article title of "Scratchbuilt Structures made simple" also caught my attention; I have book marked the 1st page.
Paul J. Dolkos outlines 7 simple steps.  Step 3 is the one that interest me most because he describes scoring a sheet of styrene and breaking it apart, then reassembling the pieces so that window and door opens are created.    This sounds great to me because I have hesitated to do more scratchbuilding because of cutting these openings neatly.  I am eager to move forward on a long delayed structure.

See STYRENE for more on the subject.

Richie,

I have to laugh at your caption.  I have two wye tracks that I am trying to incorporate into my layout.  I picked them up my layout before I reconfigured my track plan in such a way that they would not work.  I have found a way to use one of them in my new engine terminal trackage but the second one I have no idea yet.

I have really wondered how often wye tracks were used outside of reversing a loco/trains direction.
