He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Do you have info, or are you just teasing all of us?  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

I'm actually trolling with a bit of truth. You see, I email BLI twice a year, and have been for the last 3 years. The last time I emailed them, they actually said that they would love to bring their T1 to N scale. I ain't even kidding. I can't say that I'm optimistic, though. These M1a's have become the Duke Nukem Forever (mad props if anyone gets that reference) of the N scale railroading world.
Sadly, I still hope that next year is "the year." But I take it all with a grain of salt and remain ever hopeful.

So in closing, don't let this thread degenerate into why or why we don't have N scale Pennsy steam.

Last year I emailed BLI in March about the M1. I was e-mailed back that the project would be started in the spring of this year. Here is the actual text: "The plan is to start it this spring, for delivery early in 2013.  I can give you a better update once we get the tooling a bit further along." So I e-mailed BLI August  to see if there was any updates. This is what I got: "At this time we are still planning that project, however, no definite schedule date has been posted.  Preorders are taken once there is an announcement of the project and an expected delivery date.  No official notice has been made at this time."  NOTE: different people for each e-mail. As you can see, I don't think this project will get off the ground, but I have hope.  :P

With the attitude of PCM/ BLI they could do the best K4 ever and I would still leave it on the shelf. Their problem not mine.

I would forgive them if it ever truly came to pass.  If not, well, I have my stockpile of Bachmann Mountains and lots of notes and saved conversion threads and good intentions.

I'm not holding my breath for any BLI product.  Maybe they will, maybe they won't, I've stopped looking for updates at my LHS.
Too bad to - I could have easly seen a few on my layout.

Has anyone converted a Bachmann Heavy Mountain into an M1?

I thought about switching my light mountain M1 bash out with a heavy M1 chassis.  Was diverted by other spending priorities.

I'll be doing a heavy soon Dave, but I'll be using two GHQ L1 castings...  I think Spookshow notes the differences in the chassis...

Holy crap, that's a HUGE investment.  Please document that thoroughly!

Isn't that what Max did? Or did he do that with a hippo?

Dave, I've had the kits for years.

Joshua I can't remember what Max used for an m1.

Max's hippo used only one GHQ boiler.  He built the M1 with two Trix K4s, which is the example I followed.

The M1 boiler is much larger than a K4 and is the reason why I'm going with the GHQ.  I'll have to work out the domes but the rest should be decent.  I need a cast pilot though....
